The Assault
Chapter 1: the beginning

My name is Kenji and I am the driver of the strongest mech. in the world. I control Icolis, a direct attacker. My mech. can withstand any onslaught known to man. I modified it so it can just walk right up to people. I have two friends Crow, and Zander. Crow who has an aerial assault one, is equipped with specially built wings that allow him to maneuver in just about anywhere where he doesn’t have to land. His mech. is also equipped with the largest supply of missiles in any mech.; he also has a pulse machinegun. Zander my other friend is an up close fighter. He does not allow the enemy to have a range advantage against him. He uses two energy swords, which he uses to cut off the guns of his opponents. His mech. is both fast and agile. We all have been friends since the first time we all got put into a fight together.
When the battle started Crow took off high into the air. I walked out into the middle of the arena. And started firing my pulse cannon at Crow. As I was shooting I noticed Zander had gotten between my arms and was about to cut them off. I open up my chest and fire out a rocket I had at the time installed there. The explosion sent him flying; my mech. is too heavy to fly from a rocket even one of that size. I continued to fire at Crow. Crow started firing off his missiles at me. I stood there for a few seconds until I knew the missiles didn’t do much to me. He started to circle me while firing missiles. I watched as Zander jumped onto his back and cut off one of his wings. They started to fall out of the sky; Zander jumped off of Crow in mid air toward me. I saw as pieces were falling off him as he flew at me. I grab the hilt of my sword that is on my back, and pull it out sticking it in front of Zander. He hit my sword with his, he flipped back, and charged at me again. I toss down my gun down and turn on my energy shield. I readied myself as I watched him come, then I saw Crow run his mech. into Zander’s. Crow fired some missles at me, I put my shield up and blocked them. I watched as they crashed into a wall, creating a large crash sound. I walk over there and look to see them both trying to get up, I point my sword at Crow. I see Crow look at me and points his missile pods toward Zander. Zander I saw Zander had his swords pointed at both of us. Both of their mechs seemed to be in horrible shape, mine was barely damaged. The battle ended at that point the people decided it was a draw.
Afterwards we met up in the lobby and talked, it turned out that we all had went to the same school but had different classes. We did learn we had one class together but we never met in it. We still talk about the battle even a couple years afterward. The battle took place to show if we were right for the knights of the round table, an organization of mech drivers that serve as a planet defense. We are on a mission to attack a ship, all I really know about it is that these people are going to attack earth, and well they are in orbit somewhere around the earth.
“Hey guys this is fun!” I say as I float past Zander and Crow. “Kenji this is not the time to play,” Zander said firmly. We are on our way to the mess hall for some food. Then the ship started to shake, “whoa… what’s happening?” Crow yells out. I look through a port hole, and see the ship we are soposed to stop is firing at us, “we are being bombarded by the ship we…” I start to say but the ship shakes again, cutting me off. We all look at each other, and start hurriing toward the docking bay, where are mechs are. We have been on this ship for about a month now so we mostly know are way around. On the way we pass a guy who is holding an apple, then the ship shakes again and he lets go of it. On the way by I grab it and keep going. As we neared the docking bay a voice came over the intercom, “Artificial gravity turned on” I look at the floor which is about ten feet below and say, “This is going to hurt.” I fall to the ground with a loud thud, “oww.” I stand up and head into the doors. I ran to Icolis and climbed up into it, I turned him on, and the ship shook again, “I really wish the ship would have made this room, so it doesn’t shake.”
