It's been awhile since I had a journal entry....
My mother is a member of a local club for mothers who have sons or daughters in the armed forces. This is because my older brother is in the Marines. It is called the "Houston Marine Moms." Last Thursday, my mom received saddening news from a fellow member of the Marine Moms. That fellow member was told that her son was killed by an IED in Afghanistan while on foot patrol. Then my mother told me and my dad about the bad news and we were all devastated to hear such thing.
The Houston Marine Moms never had a son or daughter killed in the line of duty, until now. The fallen Marine's body arrived at the local regional airport this afternoon. My dad and I were among the flag bearers along the Patriot Guard Riders to be present at that time. The Moms vowed that this will be the first and will be the last death they will have. The memorial service for the fallen Marine will be held Saturday (I forgot where though, but I'll see).

I hardly knew this Marine, but he would have been a great friend. However, he is in a better place now.
