Arthur loved road trips. Seeing the country side, and relaxing, not having to worry about paperwork, made him happy. Ever since he adopted Alfred, he hadn’t had much time to go on his beloved road trips, but now he had decided that Alfred was old enough to go on a road trip with him, and Arthur hoped he could share the wonderful experience with the young boy.
“Alfred!” Arthur called from downstairs.
“I swear whatever it is, it’s not my fault!” A small voice replied before Arthur heard small thuds on the stairs from the small child running down the stairs. “I didn’t mean it!”
Arthur blinked. “What are you talking about?” He hadn’t wanted to talk to Alfred about anything he had broken recently. In fact, Arthur had no idea about anything being broken. Alfred took this opportunity to figure a way to sneak out of it.
“… I didn’t say anything.” Alfred said, smiling innocently.
Arthur decided it would be best not to further the conversation until he found evidence of something being broken. “Well, I was thinking, how about going on a trip this weekend?”
Alfred’s face lit up with joy as he jumped up and down excitedly. “Yes! Yes! Yes!” he said. The boy’s excitement made Arthur’s face lit up as well as he watched the boy happily.
“Then we’ll leave this weekend to go on your first road trip.”

“Are we there yet?” A small voice asked from the back seat of Arthur’s car.
“No, Alfred. We are not there yet.” Arthur replied, his hands gripping the steering wheel a bit tighter than before, as he was clearly a bit annoyed with the said voice in the back.
“What about now?” Alfred asked again.
“No.”
“Now?”
“Alfred!” Arthur said, his patience getting thin with the child. “Does it look like we are there yet?” He asked annoyed.
There was a pause before Alfred replied. “No…”
“Then that should answer your question.” Arthur said, once again focusing on the road ahead. There was silence in the car for a few moments before Alfred spoke up again. “Arthur.”
“What is it now, Alfred?” He asked.
“I have to go.”
“Go where? We’re in the car.” Arthur said, curious as to where the child wanted to go.
“No… Arthur. I have to go.” Alfred said, emphasizing what the point he was trying to make.
“…What the bloody hell are you talking about, Alfred?” Arthur asked once more, oblivious to what the other blonde was trying to say.
“I have to go potty!!” Alfred said, as he just outright said it, knowing he wasn’t going to get anywhere with Arthur.
It took a moment for Arthur to reply. “Can you hold it, where in the middle of nowhere at the moment.” He said. They were on the highway in England, and all they could see right now were grass and a few trees alongside the road. Not a house or a rest stop to be seen for miles.
Alfred shook his head and started to hop up and down in his seat. “Arthur, I really, really, really got to go.” He said.
Arthur sighed and pulled over. “Go in the bushes then.” He said. It’s not like Alfred had any other choice.
Alfred looked out the window at the bush. “…do I have to?” He asked.
“It’s either that or you hold it.” Arthur said. Alfred didn`t want to have to hold it, so he jumped out of the car.
A few minutes later, Arthur saw Alfred running back towards the car and he got inside. “Are you ready to go now?” The older blonde asked. Alfred nodded as he buckled up.
Arthur turned back onto the road, and it was silent in the car for a good ten or so minutes until Alfred spoke up again. “Arthur. I’m hungry. Can we stop by McDonald’s?” He asked.
Arthur sighed. “We just ate not more than an hour ago.” He said. The fact that they had just eaten an hour ago was only half the fact and that Arthur didn’t know if there was a McDonald’s anywhere near where they were.
“But I’m hungry again!” Alfred complained, clutching his stomach and groaning for dramatic effect.
Arthur pulled the car over again, sighing as he did so, he was sure he had packed a lunch and put it in the cooler in the back, and decided to let Alfred eat that instead of driving all over creation to try and find a McDonald’s.
Arthur had to admit, as much as he loved having Alfred around, he was a pain in the arse. He was always getting into trouble, most of the time breaking something, or getting into something he wasn’t supposed to, and then breaking that as well. Half of the time, Alfred was just curious and Arthur understood that, but the young boy had so much energy Arthur couldn’t understand where he kept it all.
