Portuguese Lessons - Introduction
My friend kalif expressed interest in learning a little of my native language, Portuguese. After scouring the web for lessons and useful sites, though, I found out that there are not a lot of study materials online. In most cases, you either have to pay to access the lessons, or the lessons available don't cover all the subjects you need to know to carry out a simple conversation. Most of what I found was in Brasilian Portuguese anyway which I dislike. So, I decided to try to put together a mini course that teaches the basics of this beautifully versatile language. (I have been using so much English lately that I need to remind myself of a few things anyway. XD)
A couple of notes before starting:
1) I will try to structure the various subjects as simply as possible, but bear in mind that, being a native speaker, my knowledge is more instinctual than academical. I don't always know the proper rules to do something, or the grammatical names (how does one call a tense that does not exist in English?), but the concepts will be there.
2) These lessons will concern the Portuguese that is spoken in Portugal. The differences in grammar between this and Brasilian Portuguese are very slight (just some spelling differences and favouring some verb forms over others, basically). The big difference lies in the pronunciation. If you use European Portuguese in Brasil or any other Lusophone (Portuguese-speaking) country, though, everyone will still be able to understand you perfectly.
I'll post the first lesson this friday. The subject shall be nouns.
