Chapter 1

“Wake up, goddammit Jordan, wake the hell up!”
My eyes quickly opened, sound blurred and it was hard to make out any actual sound unless it was close to my ears. Then, as I looked to my surroundings, fire. All that I could see when I opened my eyes was just fire at first. Besides the running silhouettes of frantic people, and the smell of burning, rotting, putrid flesh. That in the instants of waking up the smell alone began to make my eyes tear up.

My body felt this feeling of sudden pressure as I got up to my feet as fast as humanly possible.
“Come on, we gotta go. You can look at the aftermath later, but now you need to run!”
One of the silhouette called to me, so what did I do? Like any normal human response would do, I began to run to were the voice called out to me.
When you wake up on the ground, and all that is around you are screaming people, fire, and a voice that is calling you. There is either either two things that are going on, one; you are actually in a mental hospital and the drugs are making you hallucinate all these crazy events. Or two; some how there is a major battle going on in your town. You were knocked out during the battle, so you do not remember what lead to this apocalyptic mess. I would rather assume #2, caused I would hate to think that I am crazy.

So this is what they call the “ Fog of War,” the chaos causing all of my senses to start fuzzing. Everything is slowed down, and yet the only response my body will give is the primal instincts left from my ancestors. Which tells me to run from danger, and for some reason to follow this voice. “Jorden!” The voice now screamed, as if a fog horn was just blown in my ear. Suddenly my body jolted from the noise, which made myself slide sideway, the ground scraped my knees, but I felt no pain. Quickly as I slid onto the gravel and broken rubble. My body shifted upwards and I began to run to my right.

“You got to be kidding me, the ground troops from the enemy country had taken into affect.”
Memories sprung inside me like a raging hurricane. Remembering my countries up coming war. Most likely the enemies soldiers order's are to kill anything that is moving, regardless of what it may be, even a child.

“ So these civilians who are just running from the air raid behind them were heading towards the troops being mowed down like rats.”

I sprinted, with the last adrenaline rush my body would most likely provide. Using the broken down debree as cover and avoided the shooting troops, and civilians running towards their deaths. A building up ahead, this place looked like heaven in this madness. It seemed as if it was the only building that was not bombed and destroyed. So this will be my cover, but I know it will not be for long. As I approached this abandoned church, the doors. I pushed it open, and I swear these doors felt like the heaviest I have ever opened. See now I am not a religious man but please god, keep me safe here.

Quickly I looked around and grabbed the closest object near me, a steel candle stick. Keeping this in front of my body, slowly I stepped forwards. Carefully, quietly, listening for any sound, there was this gut feeling inside me. I was not alone.
Suddenly another bomb fell to the ground outside, and the ground shook uncontrollably. Suddenly I dropped to the floor, stumbling from the shock. The building seemed like it was shaking, as small fragments of stone trickled down from the ceiling above them. The city outside was still lite in a blaze of fire, and the sound of screaming could still be heard in the night. I lifted my head upwards, and looked up toward the rafters above and through the broken stain glass windows.

Yeah, the next chapter was going to clear up the first chapter, and introduce the main character. I was thinking that for him to keep his sanity in a sense. He would remind himself of who is is, were he is from. That he actually used to be in the army himself.
