"You almost ready for school, hun?" Shannon's voice came out of the phone. Kryor was sitting on his bed with the phone to his ear. He was moving things around telepathically.
"I don't understand why I even have to go. Aren't I over the the normal age of high-schoolers?"
"Well yeah, but it keeps you closer to me." He could hear her giggling. "I'll see you at the bus stop babe. Love you!"
Kryor mumbled it back and hung up the cell phone. He stood up and stretched. Don't worry, it's just one day! he heard Shannon repeat in his head. One day? He doubted it. Nothing lasts for only one day. He strolled over to the window, nearly tripping over all the junk on the floor. Outside, the sun was almost blinding. Bright places were not really his thing, but he had to put up with it. He opened up the window and floated outside.

About 30 miles away, there is chaos. A hooded man is floating over a burning town. A short, balding man is being held by the throat. He is sweating profusely and is going red in the face.
"Where is Shannon?" The hooded figure asked. The man was unable to speak, so the hooded figure moved his hand to the man's shirt.
"I-I don't know who you-" The figure's grip tightened. "She disappeared from home three years ago! I don't know where she went. Please, please don't hurt my daughter. I beg of you!" The figure smiled and let go of the man 200 hundred feet above the ground. He then floated to a different section of the town.
