ok it was 8:30am, we r at the southern bourder, and we started to head out to Arksarayi (the i has no dot.) to see the solar eclipse. Arksarayi is almost in the middle of the country which is good and bad at the same time. the bad part was being in the mountains. there was only one road (which only has one lane for each side) that takes u to the northern bourder and it is filled w/ trucks, big trucks. so if u want to pass them u have go to the other lane, drive as fast as u can, and hope a long/big truck, or a formula car doesn't hit and ending up off the road and crach into the mountains. the good part is the truck drivers r short tempered when someone infront of them is going extermely slow on them, so they fight each of who goes first. lots of flat tires happen, and it is funny.
at half way way point which is an steepe/med area i saw the sinors w/ a flat tire (our school is small so i know everyone.) so my dad pulled over to know what was going on. they said it smelled like rubber for 10 min but they still partyed, when all of the sudden they heard a huge pop/small explosion. it turned out the tire had a tube, so which means it was about to die out anyway. then they came out of no where the jandarmas (military cops), blocking my dad's jeep. 4 of them came out and 3 of them were pointing their guns at me. my dad said to keep my mouth shut, but i knew if i didn't speak turkish they might send us to the station. they asked my dad if we were hijacking them, and of course he didn't understand and said something else. (here was me: stare *u would think a man being here longer than me would know what to do instead of acting like a moron.*) they moved him aside then my friend, Mehgan, told them told they had a flat tire and we came to help, and of course they listened to her since she was a "victim". but then again at the eastern side of the country there r alot of hijacking. anyway, after the tire was fix, we got in the jeep, and continued our trip.
uhh.. i'm just going to skip the part til it was 10 min before the eclipse. i had a mask on, the one ppl use the flame tourch on steel. it pretty cool, but i couldn't see anything infront of me. when i lifted my mask i saw an old man right at my face so of course i fell. then he was starting to talk to my dad and i was like"wtf?!" then his family came, took him away, and apologized. soon the eclipse became full as everyone started taking pictures. the sky looked as if it was the middle of the night, so the town/city turned their lights. it lasted about 4 min then the moon went away.
i'm glad i saw the eclipse cuz i heard there wasn't going to be another one til the next 54 years.
