xxxxxxElise stood shivering alone, surrounded only by swirling darkness and the formidable gray columns to which she was now prisoner to as she waited for Jacques. Elise shivered again, the bitter frost of old winter was already seeping deep into her bones. 'Where was?' She wondered hazily, vaguely aware that she was in the beginning stages of hypothermia. She couldn't believe that she hadn't left yet, it was clear he wasn't coming. As Elise turned to leave, she suddenly found that she couldn't. She couldn't leave, not by any physical reason of course, other than the fact that she had taken a taxi to get here. That alone, had cost her a fortune, but then again, it wasn't easy living in New York and being poor. No, Elise couldn't leave because when she tried to she felt a stab of loneliness and heart-wrenching pain. She knew that if she left now she would never find someone else to replace him. Elise couldn't leave because she was in love. 'Elise? What are you doing here?" A man with a slight french accent asked, surprising her and almost making her fall face first into the snow. Whirling around, Elise immediately started to cry. "Jacques! Oh I thought-I thought I was never going to be able to see you again!" She cried as she barreled towards him to hug him. And instead, Elise ended up tripping on a rock and plunging waist-deep into a pile of snow - Jacques immediately ran to get her out, given her propensity to panic. Elise managed to wiggle out of the snow and jump back up, wiping the tears off her face. "Jacques I will go back to Paris with you! I'm sorry I shouted earlier...I shouldn't have but-but oh I thought you were going to leave me!" With this outburst she flung herself anew upon a very surprised but pleased looking Jaques. "Do you mean it Elise? Do you really?" He asked, his face aglow with excitement. Elise let go of Jacques and nodded and did a strange little hiccup and laugh. "Let's go then! We have to pack! We leave in two days!" He called out, pulling her close back and trying to get her at least a bit warm.
Jacques grabbed her by the arm and practically dragged her to his car. "Here, sit in my car! It has a heater - I just want you to be warm Elise. You look like death warmed over!" Jacques fretting sounded distant to Elise. He helped her get into the car and even got her a spare blanket he had in the car. Her mind was so hazy with happiness, that she barely even registered the cold anymore. Elise knew when Jacques got in the car though, because she heard the door slam. The words that she did manage to get out however, silenced Jacques and made him blush. "I love you darling," She said quietly to him, squeezing his hand. "I love you too Elise," He whispered back, and gave her a return squeeze as well as a kiss on her forehead that made her smile.
