When I was younger I was asked a lot who my role model was. I always gave that lame answer,like “Oh my sister because she gives me cookies” or “My dad because he reads me stories”
Well today I found my real role model when I was asked that question again.
My mom.
My mother when she was younger was abused by my Grandma. One time she even had a hammer thrown at her head.
She ran away countless times, but always came back for her bother and sister. Not because they were abused, but because she loved them.
Now, my mother struggles everyday to not be like my Grandma. She struggles to go against what was literally beat into her head. To be a better person. To not do what she was taught was okay and how to raise children.
Sometimes my mom does flip out on me and looks like she’s going to hurt me, but she stops herself. Because she doesn’t want to be her mother, who by the way is now in an anti-child abuse group trying to stop child abuse. Ironic, I know.
My Mom will always be my role model for being strong and stopping the vicious cycle.
