Fading time
Second Encounter

The rain that fell on her window ribboned with the movement of the car, creating a wondrous array of web-like patterns on the tinted glass. It also gave her something to do that didn't involve looking at her father. Her younger sister had long since fallen asleep, her heart shaped, angelical face slightly mushed against the glass. Her mother didn't speak a word, but then, she rarely did anyway.
After Kit had returned home with the circus flyer, her father had decided that it was 'about time for a family vacation' and he piled them all in the car. This of course confused Kit to no end, and she didn't like it. They were going to be staying at the Rouge Inn, which -according to Kit's research- had been a rundown mansion before it had been anonymously bought and repaired. Suspicious? Yes. Suspicious enough to dissuade her father? No.Sighing, she rested her forehead against the glass and watched the passing woods with little interest.
Mora -her sister- muttered something underneath her breath, and a split second later, the mansion came into view. As did the huge tent set up behind it. Her eyes wide, Kit leaned a bit closer to the window, watching it intently. There was indeed a tent as big as the mansion, and from what she could tell through the letting up rain, there were several smaller but equally as impressive tents as well.
"Mora, get up."
Their father called, turning off the radio and steering the car around the large, wrought-iron fence. After they flashed their tickets and had parked themselves in the parking lot, it was only a matter of minutes before she and her sister were in their room, drying off and putting on warmer clothes so that they could go out and explore the circus. Along with being uncertain of her father's reasoning, Kit was also excited. She hadn't ever been to anything like a circus before, so it was new, and Kit loved new.
"What do you think will be in all those little tents and stalls?"
Mora asked in excitement, rushing to their door as Kit slipped on her jacket. Her little sister swung the door open, and Kit, who's eyes were on the ground, hadn't noticed when she stopped. They ended up knocking into eachother, and Kit was ready to give her sister a lecture on announceing your sudden movements when her eyes flew over her sister's head and she was slightly -and temporarily- dumbfounded.
Standing before them, their eyes all teaming with interest, stood several performers, one of them being the wiry high-wire girl from that presentation. Another was the tall, buff strongman that had held her up. Mora glanced over her shoulder at Kit, a little nervous, but at Kit's nod, she smiled at the performers and started moving again. Kit followed after, locking the door to the room and eying the circus workers respectfully, she padded after her sister.
"Mora! If you leave without me you'll get in trouble."
She called, her voice breaking the slightest bit. She didn't talk very much. Unaware that behind her stood several more reappearances from the presentation, Kit walked on like her life hadn't just been touched by fate.
