Chained Flight
You shove the feathers down my throat.
They stab me.
I speak,
but they prevent me.
I grab my throat and give a gentle squeeze.
But, the effort given
is merely a thing to be driven.
You tell me I am "free."
How can I be "free" when you stare at me with eyes full of flame?
Fingers burning with blame?
The force feeding.
The ignorance breeding.
All I can do is stand.
Shaking as I see power in the wrong hands.
I am frozen.
As the numbers increase in dozens,
whether it is those who have fallen as the prey of the hunt,
or those who just punt.
