So I work on Gaia Tools, I acknowledge that currently the site is not aesthetically appealing and often clunky, even "broken" if the user doesn't have Flash. For the past year while working around my classes, other hobbies, life stuff, and procrastination, I've been working on updating Gaia Tools.
I'm working on overhauling the design of the site to be more aesthetically pleasing and streamlined, I probably have more work to do, but I feel and others that I've shown my progress to feel that what I've done so far for the coming update is significantly better. One of my biggest goals is for this update is to make the site entirely mobile friendly, so I'm giving extra attention to that aspect.
I've gotten most of the front-end all set up. I've got to work on the admin panel now for managing the site and then implement the RBAC system for user permissions.
This is a massive update, the back-end and front-end of the site are being overhauled. I'm essentially boiling the ocean, (doing everything at once), for this update. One of the benefits, though, is that it'll be easier for me to maintain the site and add new services and tools going forward.
The GTools Team is drafting up what we would like to see in GaiaUpgrade v2. It's currently pending the completion of the GTools site, because there's some integration features for the extension with the site that we would like to add to include in v2.
So it's extra important that I finish the site update sooner rather than later. I definitely bit off more than I can chew with this one massive site update, but I'm working through it.
Once I get the site update complete we can focus more on the GaiaUpgrade extension, but we won't have to rush. Currently my attention is so split between everything, it's hard to get anything done. I hope to get the site update completed soon to make more time for my classes.
And that's what I do.
