The first thing I'd like to share is the progress on my jack o' lantern pumpkin. This is the first and only pumpkin I've pollinated so far. I pollinated it by hand less than a week ago and boy has it been growing fast! When I pollinated it, it was smaller than a kiwi but just look at it now:
The next thing I wanna share is my acorn squash. It's only been 3 days since they've been pollinated but they seem to be getting bigger, which is a great sign. Hand pollination doesn't always work so waiting to see whether the fruits are yellowing or shriveling is a good way to tell if the pollination was a success or not. Anyway, here's how they're looking:
The last thing I have to show ya'll is a picture of a gourd blossom I pollinated 2 days ago. I'm not sure exactly what type of gourd this is since the seed came from an assorted bag, but the plant itself is huge eek I'm not sure it has accepted the pollen or not but we shall see:
Some things I'd like to quickly touch on:
~ I fertilized all the plants yesterday with an organic fertilizer and will probably try doing that once a week.
~ My fairytale plant has way too many vines running in all sorts of directions so I'm seriously considering pruning some of those back.
~ The aphids I sprayed a day ago are mostly dead now and I'll probably spray again either later today or tomorrow morning.
