Times are a'changing...
And to tell you the truth, I don't actually mind...

My room is officially green. It is marvelous... I really hated the pink walls and finally asked my father again. This time, instead of him saying, "Why don't you pain the rest of the house first?" he said, "When do you want to go get the pain?" He's so weird; constantly changing what he says and then telling me I'm a liar... but hey, I don't care. My room is beautiful. I still have to put my stuff back and rearrange crap and whatnot, but just waking up every morning knowing that I never have to stare at a pink wall again puts me at ease.

On top of that, I have a drivers license now... God, it feels good. I got up early Thursday morning and went up to the school to find that Andy and Alison were waiting to drive as well. At first I kinda freaked out because everyone has heard that Alison is a horible driver... but because Andy and I were taking the test that day, she had to drive first through the course. Okay, so what if I still freaked out, Andy kept poking me and making me smile through my nervousness of dying in an Alison-prompted car accident.

Then he took his test, and even though we were supposed to be a little more serious, Mr. Watkins kept up a pretty steady conversation with him the whole time. Unfortunately, his test went way too fast and then I had to take mine. Because I've never ridden the school test route (except for those two times right then), I took a practice, through which I did pretty crappy... even though I was still good enough to pass... and then nailed the real thing. So yeah, no bitchy dmv woman screaming down my throat, no father telling me I failed on purpose just because I wanted to make him mad, and no need to ever worry about renewing my permit again.

Afterward, I went home and finished painting my room until it was time for me to go to work and finally, after work, I got to go out on my own. I swung by Mat's house and he and I went out to Emily's. We ended up crashing her brother's birthday party and then playing with the cows and crying on the trampoline... okay, maybe I was the only one crying, but those things are really scarey!

Mat and I took the long way home and by that time the novelty of having a license wore off... the only thing it really did for me was get my father off of my back.

We went to the University of Pittsburgh this past weekend... and I love it! It's engineering programs sound perfect, the pathfinders were extremely helpful, the band is pretty awesome (and something that I can get into), and Pittsburgh has everything I want. Really the only downside is that it's center city... and heaven knows I'm no city girl.

So, I applied while we were there (they waived the fee), and as soon as I send in a transcript and an essay, they'll evaluate and send me a response. I love rolling admissions.

I'm still going to apply to RIT and PennState and look into Bucknell and a couple others, but I do believe Pitt is where I'll end up. I love the city (even though people like me don't really do well there) and my dad is sold (it's a state funded school so it's pretty inexpensive compaired to the other private schools I'm looking at) so yeah...

At Pitt I had another elevator experience. After our separate lunches (parents one place, kids another) my dad and I planned to meet up at the admissions lecture so I headed for the elevator with a couple of the guys I had lunch with and a bunch of other prospective students. Anyway we all jammed in (I swore we were over the weight limit) and as the elevator lurched upward, I grabbed hastely for the railing... only, it was the railing I grapped. I was standing next to this incredibly cute guy and had placed my hand on top of his. I must have looked pretty pathetic because he slipped his hand away, placed it over mine, and when the door finally opened, gave mine a little squeeze and we went our seperate ways...

Oooh but before that, lunch was fun. A lot of people came with groups of friends or they saw someone from their school (I was surrounded by people who live within half an hour of the city) so when I first walked into the ballroom, I instantly looked for someone who was sitting alone. There was this one guy, sitting alone at a table in the corner, thoroughly engrossed in filling out his application, so I decided that as soon as I got my food, I'd sit with him, figuring that I could atleast talk at him if not to him. However, before I had made my way to the table, a girl and another guy had joined him. I figured I'd sit down anyway and we all introduced ourselves, including the first guy who didn't seem to talk, and were joined by two more girls and a third guy. So we were all talking about highschool, Pitt, and where we live (even though the all lived in the suburbs of Pittsburgh) and the original guy got up and left as soon as he was done with his food and application. It was then that we found out that all of us were only sitting together because we figured we'd joing the lonely guy in the corner...

.. but the people I sat with were really awesome. They all tried to make conversation, and for once I wasn't the one doing all of the talking. It makes me look forward to college even more, knowing that there are millions of people out there to know... I can't wait to get out of Towanda. heart

Shesh and I thought I wrote to much. lol Anyways it's cool you got your license. I'm still working on mine. Not sure where I'm going for college... Definitely not up north though. I just finished painting my room last week. Mines red and I loves it to death. Good luck with everything. Lata!
