Hello. I've been wanting to rant about this for a very long time, but hey, guess what happens if I make a thread about it?
Mod: "Lol, you're banned, aren't you the guy who had the spam thread?" Pfft. stare
Anyway, I'm talking about online games, and the people that play them. Every online game I've played (mainly on DS) has been quite fun. Unfortunately, there are those...people. You know who I'm talking about. Snakers. Glitchers. Disconnecters. Spammers, hackers, thieves, everything you want to call them. I just came from the GameFAQs forums, and thats the main reason I'm typing this. Main Point: I hate when people are cheap. How do I define "cheap", you ask?
Cheap- When someone continuously uses the same move When someone uses a very "advanced" tactic to win repeatedly Intentionally challenging weaker players.
Yes, those are my definitions. Now then, lets talk about the games I'm referring to. Mario Kart DS: The main problem, with snaking. Several people think it's a perfectly legal in-game requirement for a race. Well, it's not. What's that you say? "The developers knew it was in there"? No, they didn't. At all. Just like all those other glitches. That's right, it's a glitch. If the developers of MKDS knew snaking was included, they would have included an explanation in the owner's manual. Think about SM64DS. There are lots of things in the game that allow you to...get on top of the castle for instance. Hey, what do you know, a glitch. It's in the game, yeah. But the developers didn't know it was there. If they did, it would have been taken out.
The next problem: Super Smash Brothers Melee. I love this game, but I've been reading up on this new "wavedashing" fad. In my opinion, it's yet another cheap tactic, and wasn't intended to be in the game at all. I've watched these "expert player" videos, and wasn't impressed at all. They're doing the same thing normal players do, except they're sliding all around the battle arena, and intentionally jumping on a ledge so other players can't get on. (What the heck are triple jumps for, in this case??)
Don't think I don't know how to snake or wavedash, because I do. I've tried both, and can do them exceptionally well. But unlike these other players, I DO feel they are cheap. Cheap to the max. I think these are only for people who do anything to win, just to keep a record or something.
And it's not just with the two I've mentioned. With games like these, people seem to completely forget the fun factor, or anything else the developers intended them to be. All the gamers seem to care about is winning. They want to make themselves look good, so they can call all the other players "noobs" or "whiners".
This is one guy who won't be sinking I'm sorry, Rising To their level.
But online gamers aren't all bad. Thanks especially to you Gaughan, and my other Gaian buddies. You mean a lot to me, suprisingly enough. wink
Rant over, now cool off.
