Darrell Lance Abbott (dimebag darrell)) was one of the best guitar players of all time. He was born in Pantiego, Texas on August 20, 1966.He started playing guitar at the age of 12. At the age of 16, he was banned from many statewide competitions because he won too often.
His first band was with his brother Vinnie Paul on drums, Dimebag on Guitar, Tommy Bradford on bass, Terry Glaze on guitar, and vocalist, Donnie Hart. In 1982, Hart left the band and Glaze took over the vocals. Rex Brown then took over Bradford for bass. They named the band "pantera".
In 1986,the band did not find Terry Glaze's glam style fitting, so Glaze was cut from theband. They were on the search for a new vocalist. The band had a few temporary vocalists such as Matt L'Amour and David Peacock before finding Philip Anselmo. After Anselmo joined the band, they changed there style to power metal.
In 2003, Dimebag and Vinnie switched bands and started "damageplan." Now with Bob Zilla on bass and Patrick Lachman with vocals, they were golden.
On December 8, 2004, Damageplan was at the Alrosa Villa in Columbus, Ohio.A man named Nathan Gale took Dimebag's life that night. He shot him and three other people. Officer James Niggemeyer shot Nathan also.
