I've known for a while that the end is near
Everybody has tried to make that very clear
It seems nowadays all I seem to do is cry
Torturing myself during this long goodbye

I don't want to see you in this pain anymore
It's killing me slowly, much worse than before
Because now I know there's nothing I can do
I hope I have the strength to get me through

You're the woman who brought me up from a child
When I was low, it was your number I dialled
But now you're being taken away from me
Leaving me alone to sift through the debris

Life is so unfair, taking you away so soon
I need you more than the stars and the moon
But it feels like I'm swimming up against the tide
I love you so much, I need you by my side

But I don't want to see you live like this
So with one last 'I love you' and a goodbye kiss
I'll miss you so much but I just want you to know
I love you and it's ok to say good bye
