Journal of an Avenger
The Killing hour...
After the events of yesterday, I was curious about the towns people and what was going on so I decided to look around. I snuck into one of the houses of the villagers at night and found something very disturbing. Rotting corpses hung from the rafts of the ceilings, and the floors of each room was splattered with blood. I have no idea why I couldn't smell the stench of dead flesh earlier, because I sure as hell could now. Some of the bodies were headless or had missing limbs, some weren't recongnizable at all...but they all had the similar mark sof being hacked into, like cows or pigs at the butcher...After a few moments I couldn't stand looking at the dismembered bodies so I went on to another room.

I entered into the room quietly and cautiously. Two children lay on the floor sleeping, they looked like normal children but their hands were crimson red and the corners of their mouths dripping with blood. I leaned down and smelt the breath of one of the children. It reaked of human flesh. These...people, cannabalistic...or something else? The thought of mere children ripping bodies apart and eating them made my stomach turn. I ran to a near window and vomited. After wiping my mouth clean, I turned around to leave the house.

One of the children was awake. He was staring at me with dull lifeless eyes. Sudden fear and panic rose throughout my body, I backed up next to the window and jumped out. When I landed on the ground I looked up to see the boy staring at me with a sick demented smile across his face. I stood and ran towards Lunethia and Daraunde, "They're all not like this...are they...?" I whispered into the cold midnight air. After running for a few minutes I looked around, silence and terror hung about in the air.

Looking to see if anybody was awake, I slowly walked back to Daraunde and Lunethia and woke them.

"Daraunde..we need to leave..."I paused, looking for words to describe what I had seen. "This place...."I shivered at the memory of the corpses hanging from the walls. Their bodies hanigng, lifeless.... "We just need to leave, now." I picked up Lunethia as Daraunde gathered his things and headed outside.

About seven men and women stood outside, waiting for us. Their bodies swayed with the slight breeze. Looking around for anymore I turned my gaze towards Lunethia, "Lunethia...?" I shook her until she woke and told her to go back to Daraunde. She rubbed her eyes and seemed to understand me, because she immediately went back. Two men walked towards me, their arms and hands drenched in rotting wounds and blood. The others started to follow.

I unsheathed my sword and stood, ready to fight, a woman ran and slashed at me, I swung my sword and lopped her head off. Her body fell to the ground with a loud thump. A few of the others ran to her body and started to tear the flesh off of her. They tore apart her body in a matter of seconds, hunger writhing in their eyes. My stomach leapt into my throat and I began to gag. After recomposing myself I noticed that they had all formed a circle around me and were closing in. "No time to fool around..." I swallowed the gagging feeling in my throat and looked around at the faces.

Cold metal struck against flesh and within moments, bodies fell. They were all dead, the smell of their festering blood filling the crisp air. "Daraunde, we need to leave NOW!" I yelled back at him, he ran out of the Inn, blood covering his arms and hands.

"What the hell?" He grabbed Lunethia, picked her up and ran towards me. "What's going on???" I looked at him and grimaced at the sight of the townspeoples' blood drenching his pale skin.

"I'll explain later...we need to go, come on!" I grabbed his wet crimson hand and started to run. We ran as fast as we could, out of fear and the sound of feet crashing down behind us. My nostrils flared and my lungs burned. Time was lost and the only thing we could hear now was the beating of our own hearts.

We ran, and ran, and ran until morning when our legs gave out. "Damn it...we're lost..." I looked at Daraunde and he looked back at me. "But at least we're out of that hell hole..." Lunethia whimpered and buried her head into my chest. I held her closely, petting the back of her head.

little children, very very creepy... I like that even though you're a warrior type thing, you still have feelings and get sick from gross stuff...
