Sasuke is emotionally withdrawn and generally not the happiest person in the world but for a good reason.He's the only surviving member of the Uchiha clan and as a child he watched his parents and family die at the hands of his older brother.This froze Sasuke's heart and he was left alive to suffer.After he joins Squad 7 Sasuke learns to have friends- people u care about and who care about you.At first Sasuke finds it bothersome to be on a squad and finds Naruto and Sakura annoying but as he gets to know them he opens up more and more.Sasuke's goal in life is to get revenge for his clan and to kill his older brother. To do this Sasuke must get much stronger.This is why Sasuke is so power hungry.He'll do whatever it takes to get stronger_no matter what the consequences.Sasuke and Naruto are rivals.Sasuke is suprised at Naruto's ever-growing strength and has made it one of his goals to surpass him.
