Chapter One: The Details

It was that time of year again, in the summer, when the family that lived in the peaceful country of Colorado went on vacation to the city for two months. But this year was different, very different.

The parents’ three kids, Tom, Amy, and Kevin each got new pets. Tom’s pet was a sassy, girly girl cat named Beth. Amy’s pet was a spoiled, baby dog named Oreo. Kevin’s pet was an old, wise dog named Fido.

On the day the family had to go on vacation, Oreo started to whine. He wanted to go with them, but the house they were going to didn’t have enough room.

The parents had to hire a pet sitter to watch the pets.

Chapter two: The Beginning

The family left for the city on Monday. Oreo was sad all day. Fido tried so hard to cheer him up, but it wouldn’t work.

“Oreo, come on, they’ll be back before you know it,” Fido stated.

“They will be gone for two months! That’s like five years in dog years to me!” Oreo barked.

“Would you stop whining? You’re acting like a puppy.” Fido yelled. "

They left us, they could be in trouble!” Oreo said worriedly.

“They’re fine,” Fido replied.

The pet sitter came in the house and took the pets outside. She sat down on the porch and patted Beth.

“Look at Beth getting all the attention,” Oreo whinnied.

The pet sitter put Beth down and went to fill up their food dishes. Soon after, she started to talk.

“I have to take my horse to the vet so I’ll be back later,” The pet sitter said, “Don’t go anywhere!”

Chapter three: The Discussion

After she left, Oreo started talking again.

“I’m going to go find them so I can be with them.” Oreo started again. Fido was angry with Oreo, while Beth was cleaning herself.

“You can’t. We were told to stay here!” Fido yelled;”Besides if you could go, you would have to climb over the mountains to get there!”

“So what!” Oreo said wildly,”I don’t care, I’m leaving.”

“Oreo stop.” Fido said, but Oreo wouldn’t listen.

Oreo got up and headed toward the fence. He jumped onto the trash can and hopped over the fence. Fido came running up and got over the fence like Oreo.

“Hey, guys, wait for me!” Beth called out.

Oreo and Fido waited for Beth to catch up with them. Once she did they started off for their trip over the mountains.

Chapter four: The Journey

“Come on Beth, keep up.” Fido said.

“But the ground is so hard! Oww, I think I just broke a nail!” Beth whined.

“Hop on my back, Beth, I’ll give you a ride,” Oreo offered.

“This should be interesting,” Fido mumbled.

“The mountains are huge!” Oreo complained.

“You know, we can still turn back and go home.” Beth whined.

"Let’s start climbing if we want to make it over soon.” Fido stated.

So they started climbing and about twenty minutes later, Oreo got tired.

“Beth, you’re going to have to get down and start walking because my back is starting to hurt. Beth got down and they continued to walk. Soon after, they came across a cave and Oreo started getting curious and stopped in front of the cave and barked.
