It's been a hell of a week... :sweat:
Oi, this week has just been so stressful on us all. My grandpa went into the hospital last Friday. He's diabetic and can't feel his foot, and last week he went to soak it and lost the skin on it. So he went to the hospital and they sent him home a couple days later. Then he went back in on Monday because he had to visit a plastic surgeon about his foot... they had been talking about a skin graft. But instead, we wound up finding out that one of two things would be done in surgery.
1) He would lose his big toe.
2) He would lose his leg from below the knee.
Then he went back into the hospital on... Tuesday night, I believe. His blood sugar levels had gone crazy and he couldn't regulate them. I think they were 24.9 when he was admitted. So he's been in there ever since.
I'm worried about the surgery, there's just so many risks. I mean, he's 85 years old. He's diabetic (which should be obvious to the reader by now...). He's got heart problems. My mother and sisters AND brother all told me the odds of him making it out of surgery if he has to be put to sleep for it... which he likely will. I mean, if it's an amputation, of course he'll be asleep.
But then again, this guy's shocked us many times by making it through when we all thought it was the end for him. I think that even he thought it was the end, in some cases. I feel bad, though. He's going to miss Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow. sad And it can't be fun to just lay in a hospital bed each day, even though mom spends almost all day there and my aunt visits often, and my uncle and aunts call him (they live outside the city).
I'm just worried, and I think I have a good reason TO be worried. To those who read this, keep him in your thoughts for me, okay? It would mean so much to me if you did that. heart
The surgery, so I hear, could happen Tuesday. I've had to speak to my Ancient History professor about this because of the fact that I have a midterm to write for him Wednesday, and I think he needs to know the situation just in case. He was so understanding about it, too. Was a very nice guy, and had been my favorite prof to begin with. Now I just like him more.
Oh, and as his time in the hospital goes on, I we find out that he now needs two toes removed, and that's the new 'best case scenerio'. There's also a lot of negligence going on from the doctors and nurses, and one is filing a complaint for us. We're sending in a letter of complaint as well, and we're sending one to grandpa's lawyer. Yes, the people at the hospital are being that bad. They even forgot to give him his meds until 4 hours late. And it was for infection. And as we know, if you don't keep giving the doses at the same times (or relatively same time... keep a pattern going, right?), the bacterias can have time to stregnthen and develop immunities to the medications... so damnit, the nurses should be helping him. As of yet, WE take care of him more than any of the nurses did...

Well, I've gone back to working on my website once more. (star-gazer.net if you don't know the address yet =P) I've updated tons of it and I've also decided to start a blog. Problem is, I haven't a clue how to install Greymatter OR B2. I'm really bad at that, and even the tutorials I've looked up haven't helped me. gonk At least the layout and planning has been done...

Anywho, I have to get going. More studying to do!! I'm re-reading the textbook for Ancient History so that I'll be prepared for the exam. xd But there's still quite a bit left to read! sweatdrop Wish me luck!
