Well, I had my choir rehearsal tonight. I'm singing with a local Philharmonic Choir - that means we get to sing with the orchestra and do fun big orchestral/choral works.
For those of you that know anything about music, and more specifically about classical music, we're doing a couple really cool pieces this Spring. The women are performing in a concert this month - we're doing a couple pieces by Holst. One is what...Song of the Traveler? Pretty cool, it's a double women's chorus thing, so there are really 6 parts - which mesh together. *grins* We're also doing The Planets, one of his most famous compositions. I never knew there was a chorus part with this, but there is, at least on the Neptune movement. We're actually going to be singing from off stage, that'll be kinda different.
Then, the full choir is doing a truly awesome piece - we're singing Carmina Burana, by Orff. Again, this is a really famous piece, and, to my knowledge, it's not performed all that often. At any rate, I've only heard part of it in concert before, and I use the term heard loosely, seeing as I was singing in it. wink We used the first movement - O Fortuna - for our Halloween concert one year at college. That was a very cool concert - it involved every single ensemble in the School of Music, the organ prof. played Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D? Minor (the one that goes Dada da, dadadada da da!), and the concert was ended with the marching band filling up the aisles and playing Thriller. *grins* Much fun.
Well, I just wanted to 'brag' about the cool pieces I get to sing, so I'll close this and go to bed, seeing as it's very late, and I'm getting rather cold. (I'm definitely looking forward to burrowing under the pile of blankets I have on my bed!)
