A light has gone out in the world. Mr. Vonnegut combined a dead-pan, wry wit with a profound love of humanity unmatched by most any author. His stories were funny, because it would hurt too much not to laugh. Reading his books, I always got the feeling that, yes, the world is ******** up, and people are ******** up, and maybe I'm even ******** up, but that doesn't mean it's not all worthwhile somehow, and deserving of love--even if that love is tempered by a touch of cynical humor.
Thank you, Mr. Vonnegut. You will be missed.
