My Name Is... Kasoivc De Lecroix.
An orphaned child of 9, I grew up under the harshest and most restricting enviroment possible. It is the 17th Century, the French Society enveloped in war on all fronts. Day after day, shell by shell, cities collasped under the the pressure developed by cannon fire. All around me, I saw ruin and dispair. The expiring of goods and human lives, all for a pitiful cause. By surviving such a desolate era; I became the man I am today.
My journey begun at the age of 13, I was jailed for stealing crumbs of bread. One Night, bombs began to drop unexpectedly; it was an air raid. In the time of panic, a shell had directly hit my prison wall, coughing on my own blood and the dust of brick, I made my way outside with most of my limbs still in contact. Bodies lined the streets under the debris, rivers of crimson blood seeping into the ground.
In times of war, the enemy is the enemy, there is no civilians; Sacrifices were made, over 40,000 citizens died that night.
With the little time that I had; I ran for survival, navigating through the sewers like the back of my hand. The endless turns and dead ends would've made even a professional lost, is own map betraying him. I made my way back to the marketplace, an opening allowed me to climb back up to the surface. The entire city was engulfed in flames as the charred remains of each building collasped. The fumes and smoke greyed the skies, disguising the enemy planes as they made their way to their homeland.
"Freeze!" was all I heard from around the corner, then the loud sounds of guns sounded off as high pitch screams pierced the atmosphere, which then echoed throughout the interior of my mind. I ducked into the shadows and flames as a group of soldiers passed by; making myself look ghastly as possible while crawling towards a dark & damp alleyway. My only option left was to swiftly make haste to the outer ring of the city and leave while maintaining my invisible presence. It was just a simple game of dodging patrols and utilizing the enviroment to my advantage.
Fate had brought me to this city, and it will tear me out of it. I now only have the thoughts in my mind and the ragged clothing on my back. This harsh childhood has taught me invaluable lessons; Trust No One, Fend For Only Thyneself, and the ever-obvious -- Dreams are never attainable.
