Inaccurately Stereotyped? |

Sometimes I wonder if I'm wrongly stereotyped.
People claim that I'm profound... and that they wish I'd speak up more when I'm quiet because I have a great/profound/whatever mind.
On the contrary, my mind is no more profound, deep, amazing, or whatever, than the next persons. Quiet or not. And I wonder if perhaps those that claim it, only mean it because they want me to open up and talk more. Or if they just assume "silent, occasional speaker = profound/deep." as some have been stereotyped to be. (or else the more quiet, allow others to think types are the more-likely to attack/go outrage-oh on someone's a**, or are the inner-wild childs. When really, all of those categories/assumptions apply for a huge array of people, not just the listeners, observers, allow-the-others-to-speaker's, and so on...
Stereotypes.... Are they good or bad?
I still can't decide. Sometimes they're good. Sometimes they're bad. Sometimes they're just plain ol' assumptions that must be tossed aside because they limit the ability to see past that stereotype and notice the REAL person behind it. The way they truly are.
It has been my experience that stereotypes are frequently wrong for a huge majority of the people. That means, of course, there are people that DO conform to the stereotype... but why should we allow that to handicup us so that we miss the person as they truly, potentially can be? And if nothing else, discover that we miss out on a great friend, wonderful learning experiences, and a wealth of diverse-power, among other things...
