I meant to make this entry last night...but was too tired and couldn't be bothered. So today's entry ecompasses the events of yesterday as well as today.
Yesterday I was at Wal-Mart and came across this display of body lotions called "Simply Basic" I had bought their stuff before and had been extremely happy with the product. They have so many different scents...I can't wait to try them all! So I find a tester bottle for Pineapple scented lotion. I put some on my arm and was instantly transported to a tropical paradise (instead of being stuck in the Canada...the land of eternal winter and cold). It was SO delicious! I could not get over how yummy the stuff smelled. So I am in the midst of my lotion-gasm when this lady walks up to the display and sees me like...sniffing my arm repeatedly. She's like...is that good? And I was like...OH YAH...I smell like pina colada and it's GREAT! So she tries some and is also immediately impressed. We talked for a while and then went our separate ways. I had fortunately scored the LAST bottle of the Pineapple lotion. It then dawned on me that I just spent about 15 minutes bonding with a TOTAL stranger over BODY LOTION! LOL! But it was so nice...just to be able to randomly chat up someone about stuff like that. Pays to be an extrovert!
Today I went to the McDonald's drive-thru cuz I was seriously craving some chicken nuggets. So I get the nugget meal. I get to the first window (to pay) and the guy there is all like..."Just to let you know you're getting a piping hot fresh order of nuggets!" And I was like..."As opposed to the grungy, stale and gross kind every other day???" And he laughed...and was like "No no no! I just wanted to let you know that because it's gonna be a bit of a wait before you get your order". To which I said..."So, because I am waiting extra long for my food...does that mean I get a complimentary apple pie?" The dude stopped, looked at me and said..."Let me ask my manager". So he did...comes back and says "Done!" I was like..."REALLY? SWEET!" So I drove on to window #2 to pick up my food and the same dude comes back...winks at me and says "Your pie is in the bag". I couldn't believe it! By simply asking for something...I was able to attain it. Imagine that!
The lessons I have learned - Making new friends can be as easy as discussing body lotion with a total stranger - Never be afraid to ASK for things. What's the worst they can say...NO? You would be surprised about how much you can actually get in life by simply ASKING
