Well, I've returned to the United Gaian Military Forces - and, truthfully, though it's more active than ever, I feel that it's missing something.

I feel that the new idea of the "Chain of Command", especially in the Army, is harming the guild as a whole. Now forced to relegate themselves to "Waiting for someone to become inactive," officers have less of a chance than ever to be active themselves.

I yearn for the olden days of the UGMF, when promotions were more un-official, ranks were just plain fun, everyone wore the proper uniform for the hell of it, and people enjoyed themselves... I fear that this guild is becoming more than a chore to some.

Let us hope that this day hasn't come...

Sadly, I have an announcement to make.

I am cutting people from my friendslist. This means if I've never really talked to you that much, you will be cut.

Have you ever been part of a Guild, where you're so engrossed in it, you realize that you spend too much time on it?

I've found that's the case for myself.

However, like a smoker, I find myself unwilling to quit, even though I have an addiction.

You see, I'm a Crew member for the UGMF, one of those military Guilds. One of the larger ones I suppose, and it explains the time consumed using this site.

Though it seems rather boring from the outside, I find the miniscule tasks quite entertaining. Writing out rules, writing out memos, writing out plans, writing out RPs... it keeps you quite entertained.

And through all this, for the months I've stood by it, what do I have to show for it? Sure, some Gaia Gold, some time, but in real life? What does Gaia do for us there? Does it help us in our relationships, or help us make friends? Will my time in an internet Guild effect me in the future?

Gaian Guilds are fueled by the Gaia we all love to hate - the Chatterbox, the spam. Or are they?

One can argue that the Chatterbox is full of high teenagers, looking for something for them to get off on. But, we may never know.

Guilds are addictive - but how have they becomed just as fueld as the main Gaian community itself? Sometimes, it's even more active than the normal one in all, with its thousands of Guilds holding members captivated in activity.

Edit - 9/17/06: I am changing my journal to a new format and pretty much starting over - however, I feel too much sentimental value to delete my first 'journal' entry. Therefore, I'm keeping it. Hurraz!

Well, I must say. I am a lazy bum, and proud of it. Although, this doesn't help when you hike on a steep incline towards the Appalachan Trail...

However, I guess I wasn't as bad as some of the adults on the hike. Many of them looked as though they had stopped smoking cold turkey... eek
