((So this starter is based on Mulan. I just thought it'd be fun to do a roleplay in which a girl tried to pass off as a soldier to save her father, whos too sick to go to war. Eventually, she's discovered. So anyone up for this? I would like it to turn into a romantic rp after shea discovered...but it doesnt have to. If it does, I want the romance to build slowly. Overall, this rp is meant to be full of action and some comedy. Anyone up for it?))
The Kingdom of Altara was at war. The clan of the Shadows had grown extremely large and had decided to invade Altara. The King had mandated that a man from each family was to serve in the country's army.
Valeria's older brother had passed away the year before due to an accident. So the only man in the family who was left, was her father. He had served in the military when he was young, and had been a war hero. But he was now very old and his health was not the best. He had dislocated a shoulder and so his arm was weak, which didnt have the strength to handle a sword as deftly as he used to.
'Father, you shouldnt have to go! You already served!' Valeria exclaimed, her mother tried to calm her.
'It is an honor to protect my country and family...' The man said
'But you'll die!' She replied angrily
'VALERIA! I will not argue with you anymore! It's time you learned your place!' He shouted at her.
She ran outside to the family's shrine and stayed there until her parents went to sleep. While she cried mournfully, she traced her fingers on the names of her ancestors that were printed on stone tablets. When she came upon her brother's nale, she remembered the promise she had made her brother.
-Flashback-
Her brother was on his death bed, the doctor said he couldnt do anything else for him and that he didnt have a lot of time left.
'Please brother..dont leave us...dont leave us!' She pleaded as she clutched to his hands.
He looked so pale and he was drenched in sweat. He gave her a sad smile. With trembling hands, he clutched her hands and kissed her knuckles lightly, then said 'Im sorry Val...I dont want to leave any of you, but I cant stay...I'll always be watching you, my dear. Promise me, promise me that you'll take care of mother and father....promise me...' He said with a raspy voice.
Valeria's face was covered in tears, but tried to smile bravely and said 'Yes, Leon...I will take care of them...I promise...'
-Flashback End-
'I promised...' She said whispering as she stood up. She looked towards the darkened house and said again 'I will keep that promise...'
She went into the house and took her father's uniform. She cut her hair with his sword, put some essentials in a travel bag, took the King's mandate and grabbed her horse and left. By the time her parents found she was missing, she was already a mile away from the army camp.
Her father couldnt reveal her because if anyone found out she was a woman, she could be put to death.
Valeria bit her lower lip nervously as she headed into the camp. She led her horse, and tried to walk as dignified as possible, as she had seen her father do when he was healthy. She didnt have a curvy body, so with baggy clothing, no one would notice she was a woman. She headed straight for the recruiter, who was sitting under a tree, at a table full of papers and with a sign in sign.
'Reporting for duty Sir...' She said with a deep voice as she handed him the letter.
'Name...' The man barked
'Val Sychros...' Valeria said
'Sychros? Youre the son of Sirius Sychros?' The man asked with awe
'Ummm yeah...' She replied a bit nervously, hoping he didnt know about Leon's death.
'I thought his son had died...' The man said looking at her closely
'Why...yes...he was my older brother...I have a twin sister...' She said, hoping he wouldnt catch her in her lie.
'I see. Well, how old are you?' The man asked as he wrote her name down.
'17, Sir...' She replied, looking away, hoping the helmet she was wearing would cover her blushing face.
'All right. Await for orders. The Captain who will be training you all will come soon...' He said without looking up at her.
'Yes Sir...' She said as she turned around and wondered what she was supposed to do now.
