ARMORED BLUE
Introduction:
I've decided to start a summer project using Game Maker. The reason why I'm posting this is because I'm actually serious about this project. I'm hoping to finish a fully-featured playable demo by the end of summer.
This game would be heavily story-based. Not like a standard "save the planet" story, but a Deus Ex-like story with conspiracies and political intrigue.
Backstory:
Shortly after the Third Adamor War that devastated most of the world of Aersia, it seemed as if an age of peace would reign through the hearts and minds of the people for generations. Following the establishment of the United Federation(UF) to unite every nation, the extensive rebuilding phase had begun. The neighboring rocky planet of Lucintus had just been colonized and was discovered to contain precious minerals and metals. Companies flocked towards the planet to take advantage of potential customers and constructed mines to gather raw materials for the rebuilding effort.
This widespread excitement gave a slew of opportunities to those who were ravaged by the war and wanted to start a new life. The companies offered incentives to those who were willing to work for them in the mines. When groups of workers migrated to Lucintus, some companies were dumbfounded to find that their prospects weren't as great as they had hoped. Most of those companies became bankrupt while others grew to become large corporations within months. An endless group of workers continued to flow. Rich corporations bought out the weak ones to try and gain more land. The UF had no control over these hostile takeovers. It was still a weak organization whose original purpose was to keep the peace in Aersia. It had little power over a planet away from their jurisdiction and scope.
One corporation developed a humanoid land vehicle known as the Versatile Armored Chassis(VAC). This new invention allowed miners to traverse and work in more adverse environments. Many accessories were created for it, including some non-lethal weaponry for security purposes. This revolutionary step attracted more immigrants. As the weeks passed by, the incentives were lessened until there were no more. Still, waves of people moved to Lucintus. The planet had many lavish amenities built by the corporations that attracted them, perhaps a bit too many.
With the rapid influx of aspiring workers, the corporations had to raise prices and cut down on spending. At this point in time, the demand for raw materials to the Aersia reconstruction was quickly diminishing. Most corporations were then forced to lay off workers and reduce the wages for others - some by a little and some by a lot. As the mines became deeper and consequently more dangerous, most corporations retracted employee health benefits.
The resulting sharp increase in wage discrepancy and decrease in benefits infuriated the workers. The workers had no voice. The UF had no power. Because of this, many workers rose up to rally against their former employers. Still, there was no progress and nothing happened. Soon, the rallies became violent; and within the violence, the Red Enterprise Exiles(REX) emerged. REX sought to unite all the workers, topple the corporations, and claim Lucintus as an independent planet. They wanted to bring forth the ideals of communism to a planet over-saturated with blue-collar workers. In a desperate race for survival, many executives and other white-collar workers evacuated the planet and pleaded with the UF to send military assistance. Some of those who escaped never left the atmosphere because of anti-air batteries hijacked by REX.
The UF advised REX to surrender. REX scoffed at their petty demand. It knew that the UF would do nothing, because the Aersian nations did not want another major war.
As the UF representatives bickered over a decision, the remaining corporate workers in Lucintus coordinated together to form the Allied Corporate Entities(ACE). They are trapped in the blockaded planet trying to make best use of their combined resources. These include newly-developed VAC security models(codenamed "Blue" wink , warehouses, research facilities, and factories. They will try to hold out as long as possible until help arrives, if help ever gets sent...
In short: You're fighting against space commies(think reverse-"Red Faction" with mechas).
Gameplay:
Genre: Top-down run-and-gun RPG
Ever played Zombies Ate My Neighbors for the SNES? Well, instead of playing as a kid rescuing a town from zombies, you play as a police officer rescuing a planet from commies. You pilot a mech, which you can outfit yourself, but you can also eject from it to gain access to small areas and other mechs.
You also gain prestige. The more prestige you have, the more advanced equipment you're allowed to use.
Development Team:
Lead Developer: me Writer: me Programmer: me Graphics Designer: me Composer: me
EDIT 7/23/09: Decided to postpone the project until further notice. sweatdrop Dammit, why does this always happen whenever I start game projects?

The cocky exponential function e^x is strolling along the road insulting the functions he sees walking by. He scoffs at a wandering polynomial for the shortness of its Taylor series. He snickers at a passing smooth function of compact support and its glaring lack of a convergent power series about many of its points. He positively laughs as he passes |x| for being nondifferentiable at the origin. He smiles, thinking to himself, "Dang, it’s great to be e^x. I’m real analytic everywhere. I’m my own derivative. I blow up faster than anybody and shrink faster too. All the other functions suck."
Lost in his own egomania, he collides with the constant function 3, who is running in terror in the opposite direction.
"What’s wrong with you? Why don’t you look where you’re going?" demands e^x. He then sees the fear in 3’s eyes and says "You look terrified!"
"I am!" says the panicky 3. "There’s a differential operator just around the corner. If he differentiates me, I’ll be reduced to nothing! I’ve got to get away!" With that, 3 continues to dash off.
"Stupid constant," thinks e^x. "I’ve got nothing to fear from a differential operator. He can keep differentiating me as long as he wants, and I’ll still be there."
So he scouts off to find the operator and gloat in his smooth glory. He rounds the corner and defiantly introduces himself to the operator. "Hi. I’m e^x."
"Hi. I’m d/dy."

I've never had a scammer PM me, and I've never been scammed. I don't understand why people call it "hacking". They are completely different terms. Getting your password by asking you for it does not equal hacking. Hacking is when someone gets your password by keylogging, decrypting, or guessing.
Anyway, I'll be putting common PMs here.

This is a new program we are starting here at Gaia. The announcement should be up within a half hour. Thank you for your cooperation. Sincerely, The Gaia Online Administration Team *In the past few months their has been an influx of impersonation administrative figures. Gaia Online does not think this is right. We will also be updating our announcements on how to tell a real administrator from a fake one, as well. I was lying in bed Sunday night, deeply contemplating about the shooting star I saw during my trip to the Philippines. Yes, I went to the Philippines for a month in June. Yes, it was really a shooting star. Anyway, I was thinking about the odds of seeing a shooting star and how special that moment was. I then fell asleep and had a dream.
The dream was about a girl whom I really liked. No, this was not a real girl, nor was it a fictitious girl of any kind. It was just a girl that my mind randomly created... probably. ninja Anyway, we got along with each other very well. We talked about school and jobs and other things. No, I did not have sex with her in the dream. There were no sexual innuendos whatsoever. It was much like one of those cheesy, innocently cute love stories you see in anime. It was a nearly perfect relationship. (Because everyone knows there's no such thing as a perfect relationship.)
After a while, I found out she was pure evil. Yes, she was evil. One night (in the dream), she invited me to witness her willingly crashing a small passenger plane to the sea. This was the first time I saw her kill people. I don't know if she was possessed or she hid it from me just to reveal her true form and destroy me; or she might have wanted me to join her in wreaking havoc in the world.
I was shocked and surprised to learn that the girl of my dreams turned out to be evil. I ran from her as far as I could. Before doing so, she gave me several curses as a sort of parting gift, and I became ill and handicapped. Yes, I couldn't walk for some time in the dream. She also cursed me so that every car I pass by would crash. This was when I prayed in the dream. Yes, I prayed in the dream. I prayed for her to return to normal so we can be together again. I didn't pray for my own well-being. Looks like I loved this girl pretty much.
Suddenly, there was a war. This was maybe not a physical war, but a spiritual war between me and the girl. It was a war of the modern setting (with planes, ships, and soldiers); except my forces had a bright, angelic aura and her forces had a dark, evil aura. It was a cliche war between good and evil, between angels and demons, between a man and a woman, between yin and yang itself.
I won the war. The girl descended to hell. I saw her spiritual grave. I would never see her again. Of course, I was very saddened to lose someone I truly loved, let alone someone I truly loved whom I killed with my own hands. I prayed once more. I prayed for her forgiveness and for God's forgiveness. I just wanted us to be together again. I just wanted us to have a nice life together. I wept. cry BRING HER BACK, DAMMIT!
When I woke up, I felt like I just saw an awesomely sad movie. cool cry
My mom also died somewhere in the dream, but that was irrelevant.

I can't think of anything to post; but I know I should post something because I haven't posted anything for a while. I also have nothing else to do, and I don't feel like going to sleep yet. So, I guess I should post something about a project I'm doing this summer, 60% of which has already passed by. I'm planning on making a browser-based MMORPG - one with a custom avatar system much like Gaia's. Um, I guess that's all the info I can give right now. More details of the project are in my official website.
I also have to rant that it's really ******** hot right now. It's global warming I tell you. Hell, even a luxury cruise liner tilted from the extreme waves cause by extreme weather. jasrnjflkajnsfdiajnmdwehaiuvofuapr

The missile knows where it is at all times. It knows this because it knows where it isn't. By subtracting where it is from where it isn't (Or where it isn't from where it is, depending on which is the greater) it obtains a difference or deviation. The inertial guidance system use deviations to generate corrective commands to drive the missile from the position where it is to the position where it isn't. The missile arrives at the position where it wasn't, consequently the position where it was is now the position where it isn't. In the event that the position where it is now is not the same as the position where it originally wasn't the system has acquired a variation, (variations are caused by external factors and the discussion of these factors is not considered to be within the scope of this report) the variation being the difference between where the missile is and where the missile wasn't. If the variation is considered to be a significant factor it too may be corrected by the inertial guidance system. Moreover, the missile must now know where it was also. The "Thought Process" of the missile is as follows: Because a variation has modified some of the information which the missile had obtained, it is not sure where it is. However, it is sure where it isn't and it knows where it was. It now subtracts where it should be from where it wasn't (or vice versa) and by differentiating this from the algebraic difference between where it shouldn't be and where it was, it is able to obtain the difference between it's deviation and it's variation, this difference being called the Error.

There is no truth in logic. There is no logic in opinion. Therefore, there is no truth in opinion. But that's not really true.
