Untitled Casper Fanfiction
Man! I haven't written anything here in a long time...and the stuff I wrote in here before looks like crap to me now... rofl

But that's not the point. I've decided I'm going to put little excerpts of my works in here from now on and see what people think of them, starting with this Casper the Friendly Ghost one that came to me (well, returned to me) last night.

-----
Well, I'm here... Casper thought as he hovered over the grass; he was still rather doubtful on whether or not he could trust Jasmine to provide him a new body, which in turn would grant him a new life.

After all, he had known her for what? A week? (Maybe two?) For all he knew, the pale-skinned girl may be planning to use him as a sacrifice to some nonexistant demonic god, or perhaps wanted to send him to the fiery pits of hell in exchange for her sins. Yet again, these ideas seemed...unrealistic to Casper, who had over the centuries become somewhat of an athiest. But still, he should have really gotten to known Jasmine better before taking up such an outrageous offer like reviving him. It was impossible to bring the dead back to life, right? And even those who claimed that it was possible needed the original body to do so, and Casper's body had long since rotted away, devoured by insects.

But... Casper pondered, the image of the beautiful Wendy flashing in his mind, What if Jasmine is telling the truth? I'd really...like to be human again.

If Jasmine was telling the truth, then he could finally have the life that was robbed of him centuries ago by the Spanish flu. He could feel itchy sensation of a caterpillar caressing his skin, the cool, wet raindrops on his face. He could embrace those he cared about, hold hands, maybe even...kiss. The possibilities were endless; he could do all the things that humans took for granted each and everyday. And it would be all because of this girl. He yearned to breathe through his lungs again, but was it really worth the risk of following someone he didn't truly know to god-knows-where?

"Cas? Casper?" a familiar voice broke through his thoughts, bringing the ghost back to reality.

"Huh?" He turned to find the pale girl standing before him, hoverdisk in hand.

"You ready?"

Casper smirked, determined. "Of course."

"Let's go; the laboratory isn't far from here. Just in those woods."

With that, Jasmine tossed her hoverdisk to the ground, leapt on its surface and took off, Casper close behind, as they ascended into the starry night sky, the town now the size of a toy model replica. The trip only took minutes, but for Casper it felt like hours, the forest seeming to become farther and farther with each itch they flew. If he had a heart, it would be pounding fiercely. This was his last opportunity to turn back, to politely deny Jasmine's offer; once he began the process--whatever it was--needed to bring him back (or perhaps needed to lead him to his doom), there would be no turning back.

Jasmine dove into the trees; Casper followed suit as they landed.

"Whoa..." he gasped.

Before him was a tall, three story building, which seemed to consist entirely of steel; the white paint was chipping off and nature was already beginning to consume it was ivy vines and tall, thick grass.

"It used to belong to a group of astronomers in the '90s who were observing a large, giant gas star on the verge of a supernova; I think it was called Aquamarina because it had an aquamarine tint. But once it exploded and turned into a black hole, they had no more need for this beauty and left it to rot." Jasmine said the last sentence with a hint of scorn in her voice.

"If it's an old observatory, then what are we doing here?"

"You didn't let me finish. Once they left, I came into the picture and used this as a training station for my powers. I'm into astronomy and am trying to find a link between science...and 'magic'.

"A link?"

"Yes, after all, there has to be some reason some of us have these 'supernatural' abilities while others don't; why some people just...die, while others turn into..." She turned to Casper, "you. And one day I'll find that link, but until then..."

"So, I'm basically a guinea pig?"

"You can say that..." Jasmine chuckled nervously; Casper smiled.

"Well then, let's get started, shall we?"

Jasmine nodded and the two entered the lab, Casper reassured that he will once again become human, his faith in Jasmine renewed.
