I'll remember this day for a long while. Of course, I'm talking about this announcement:
As soon as I saw it, I went to the SF to watch the chaos ensue. I was not disappointed. The entire forum exploded with new threads. I'm told the same went on in the General Discussion, and probably every other forum on Gaia.
According to various sources, the announcement was removed from the archives shortly after it was made. This misled some to believe that it was a bug exploit. In fact, it was a member of the staff being hacked. The most popular theory is that she fell victim to a keylogger.
As of yet, an announcement confirming Gaia's safety has not been made. Members of Gaia staff continue to reassure members, however.

Hey there,
The issue has been resolved and we apologize for any alarm.

I wish I had a screenshot of the SF. Alas, most of the threads have been moved to the Recycle Bin. As it is, I have a screen of the Recycle Bin shortly after they began moving threads:
Numerous threads such as these were created:
http://www.gaiaonline.com/forum/recycle-bin/everyone-i-pm-d-a-mod-i-have-a-answer-pic-included/t.49008831/
http://www.gaiaonline.com/forum/site-feedback/if-this-is-nothing-link-inside-with-mod-reply/t.49009033/
As well some others more like this:
http://www.gaiaonline.com/forum/recycle-bin/yes-everyone-run-around-in-circles/t.49008603/
And like this:
http://www.gaiaonline.com/forum/recycle-bin/new-announcement-disgustingly-tasteless/t.49008229/
http://www.gaiaonline.com/forum/recycle-bin/i-m-so-scared-it-s-not-even-funny/t.49008695/
If staff have enough time to clear away these threads, why don't they have enough to announce that everything is okay?
