Hey, is my 5th Gaiaversary ladies and gentlemen. blaugh
Here we are again, the most anticipated month of the year for any user of Gaiaonline. Halloween has always been full of surprises, even though it has had is ups and downs it never disappoints. In fact, it has gotten better with each year. Besides the traditional Trick or Treating in shops and Towns the staff has thrown an event that leaves us wanting more. More importantly, it always involves a storyline update that even if it's confusing (Gambino + Von Helson last year anyone?) we are always left wondering what will happen next. But I will get to that later, is going to be a long entry so bare with me.
The month started with something that may not be interesting for everyone, but is still a piece of Gaia history so here it is:

For those of you who don't feel like reading it basically tells the story of how Johnny Gambino earned his reputation and namesake (The richest man on Gaia).
As always the days passed by with nothing to talk about until the event actually came. In the meantime we were getting our costumes ready for Halloween, but we were not the only ones:
That's right, our aquarium fishes were also getting ready. xd
Speaking of that, the Daily Chance included a random item exclusively for Halloween called the Creepy Phonograph. When the users added it to their aquariums they got a new music option called ''Calm Water'', if they used it something happened that was anything BUT normal:

O......M......G!!!!!!!!! eek
Luckily it was just special effects, the fish didn't actually died (as if someone actually believe that xp ) but it was still unexpected.
Ok, this is what we were all waiting for:
It has traditionally started wat before Halloween so everyone has a chance to participate and like previous years it included the traditional Trick or Treating through the shops and Towns (which I won't bother to explain again since everyone knows how it works). The shop owners dressed up for the event as always, however their costumes were the same as last year (Look October 2007 entry for pics) with the exception of Ian and a new shop owner named Nicolae:

So, what is Halloween Hysteria all about? Another storyline update was in order:
  
  
Oh dear, I learned to never believe in fortune tellers (otherwise the world would have ended by now neutral ) but this is Gaia, were I can say it was founded by a cow and everyone would believe me xd . So, only one Gaia race would survive. It was another battle palooza between users of different factions, before starting we had to choose which faction to join:
Each faction had their own personal base were they could not be attacked by any opposing team, if needed team members could go there to be healed. Naturally we could not go into any of the other teams' bases, so in order to fight we had to go into one of the battlefields all over Gaia (The flagged areas).
While we were inside our base or any of the battle fields we had all kinds of information such as:
By clicking one of the Aid or Attack buttons we could use our abilities (depending on the race chosen) to heal our allies or attack our enemies. The attacks required energy which regenerated a bit every 30 seconds, naturally the stronger the attack the more energy it needed. By healing and attacking you got experience points, after getting enough you gained a level. You received a few ability points with each level, you could use them to increase your max Hit Points, Max energy, Attack Strength or Defense Strength. The first two are self-explanatory, by raising your attack power you inflicted more damage and by raising your defense you could resist more damage.
You could check your statuses all the time to see if you were being attacked or if your energy was running out, in such cases it was always wise to run back to your home base to heal and recover energy. If your hit points dropped to zero you were unable to preform any more actions until you were healed, and since you could get attacked by just entering a battlefield people found themselves getting in, attacking someone and then running back to their base or changing battle fields.
The most recent actions involving you were also displayed, such as if you were attacked, killed or healed by someone, normally it displayed the users responsible for the actions, so you had the option to fight back if you were attacked but if it said Someone, then tough luck, that user used stealth to make its move. Now what is stealth? Is an ability that dark elves could use, here is a list of all the abilities for each race:

As you leveled up with each faction you could also see your progress:

That pretty much sums up what happened, the event was very enjotable specially because of the brief waiting time. It took approximately ten seconds between actions so we could level up quickly and complete all four factions. biggrin Loved the event Gaia, keep them coming! heart
One day, unexpectedly we got an announcement:
IS FINALLY HERE!
After countless years of updates, disappointing ''estimated'' release dates, rumors, gossips, testing, blah blah blah it has come ladies and gentlemen.
Our beloved Battle System was released to the public, of course such a big feature would crash if everyone was allowed in at once. So the staff decided to do the following, first those with the Head start tickets and then users starting with the oldest and ending with the newest. As an oldbie I got in eralier than most users, of course the waiting wasn't that long for the newest users but there were still complaints and accusations of us being elitist and all that bull s**t. I won't reveal how the game works, we are all allowed in so go in there and see for yourself how awesome it is. 3nodding
*Warning, users of games like WoW or Warhammer may not see much in this game*
Now, the only thing left to mention is the Monthly items, after complaints about the previous items being lame the staff decided to go back to the traditional release date (The 15th of the month) to deliver better items, and this is what we got:
The choice between the Dreamer's Dust and the Kong Sang Scarf.
