Black Butterfly

So soft, so strong
So silent, for so long.
Her wings have been shattered,
Her spirit has been battered.
She never got the chance,
To escape reality and let the butterfly dance.
Everyday, she walks on her own.
Her peers avoid her, she's all alone.
She cannot receive hope or love.
Even though her soul is as gentle as a white dove
She never got the chance,
To escape reality and let the butterfly dance.
She comes home to find her father drunk,
Then he'll yell, "You f*cking punk!!"
Her mother does nothing but snort and inhale.
She doesn't realize her daughter's life has been impaled.
She never got the chance,
To escape reality and let the butterfly dance.
She crawls into her room,
Just escaped the fists of doom.
Curled up on her bed is where she will lay.
She closes her eyes and dreams of a better day.
She never got the chance,
To escape reality and let the butterfly dance.
She wakes up to yet another sunrise,
The bus pulls up to find a surprise.
There lies her body, robbed of life.
Next to her wrist is a blood covered knife.
She never had the chance,
But, on her hand, a black butterfly danced.
