Same-sex Marriage
“The right to have same-sex marriage conferred by the proposed legislation may potentially conflict with the right freedom of religion….” Says Roger Severino’s ‘Or For Poorer? How Same-Sex Marriage Threatens Religious Liberties’.
A reason the United States refuses the right to gay marriage is because of the religious beliefs in Catholic teachings. The Bible states that Adam and Eve were sent to Earth to enable life on this planet. When God placed Adam and Eve on Earth he put an image in Catholic brains; that only men and women are to be together in the concept of love and family. Most Americans practice some sort of religious beliefs; many practice the beliefs in Catholic teachings.
“The legal definition of marriage does not exist in isolation; changing it alters areas of law.” “Religious institutions are regulated, both directly and indirectly, by law that turns down on the definition of marriage.” Says Roger Severino’s ‘Or For Poorer? How Same-sex Marriage Threatens Religious Liberties’.
Gays should be allowed the same legal marriage as a straight couple in the United States of America.
Yet the United States is the land of the free, but how free can it really be if people with different sexual intensions aren’t able to be legally married without being a Massachusetts citizen?
In the United States, people come here from far distance just to be a part of this free county, but why is it that same-sex couples don’t have the right to be legally married? Other counties, for example, Canada and Spain, offer same-sex marriage. People from America are immigrating up to Canada to be able to marry the person they love and want to spend their life together, but we find it wrong.
“My son will be an asset to his employer, his community and his country, but unfortunalty for us, his country will not be the United States.” Says Nadine Chaffee’s ‘Newsweek vol. 149 issue 6’. Cameron is a gay citizen of the United States and had been in love with the same person his whole life, unfortunately for Cameron and his boyfriend, Aaron they are not allowed marriage in the United States, instead they are leaving to Canada to become legally married, this discrimination against gay marriage is driving people away from their loved ones and are running away to become married in another country.
Another problem the United States has is that people don’t want gay couples to be able to adopt children.
“The strongest disapproval was for same-sex couples raising kids; with 41% say this is ‘not at all acceptable!’” Says Mark Dolliver’s ‘Maybe The Good Days Weren’t So Bad When It Came To Family Life’.
Many people view families as a woman and a man being the parents, why would it be so different for a man and another man or a woman and another woman? Many people fear how the child will become as they age and realized they’re the only ones showing up to parent/teacher conferences and have two moms or two dads.
Children can be very cruel to people they think are different; a child with same-sex parents may be exposed to many things in class, perhaps physical or verbal abuse. A young child may not know the difference in having same-sex parents, but once they grow older and become more knowledgeable, the reason for the physical and verbal abuse would become clear.
The discrimination against same-sex couples is growing; hundreds of year ago famous people that we talk about today were homosexual. Homosexuality wasn’t such a bad thing to show publicly now a days. But as we advanced the homosexuality became known as a strange way of living. For a child with same-sex parents, growing up in a country that does not accepts gay couples would be very difficult to deal with.
Even though every person in the United States searches for complete happiness they take away happiness of others; gay couples get happiness from the person they love, yet the person they love is the same sex. People try and try to reach happiness to the point of complete depression, even with that why is it so wrong for people of the same sex to be legally married and recognized in the United States as a loving couple. But are gay relationships really different? John Cloud had the same question, in John Cloud’s ‘Are gay relationships different?’ It explains that gay relationships are less violent and they use humor in augments more than a straight couple, yet gay couples break up faster than straight couple. When he was a young kid, he snuck into his parents’ workroom and read a book about homosexuals. The book explain that the reasoning gay couples don’t stay together very long is because gays want to be with more of their types, not to stay with one person their whole life.
Even though gay couples can’t stay together by the studies, people still make sins to become completely happy; many people marry to become happy or become a part in a family. Other forms of happiness come from money and delights. Why is it that even though a straight couple that marries for money or into a certain bloodline is fine in the human eyes yet we find it so wrong when the same-sex becomes married?
