The demon and the prince (ch. 1 Lament)
-It was a bleak and desolate wasteland.. No sun came from the heavens above, no snow fell to comfort the cold winters, no rain drizzled to drench the soil in which plants could grow. Nothing lived in that land, nothing breathed in that land, and It was full of dread, pain, suffering, sorrow and tears. The only things that resided there were the dead and the unforgiven souls of the damned.

-Night was forever in the skies, a pitch black and frightening darkness overwhelmed the desolate barren wasteland. No one dared to live there, tread the land or even be near it. This land resided beside a region of a magnificant kingdom. A kingdom full of vitality, people, animals, far off lands which were blessed with weather. A land where people loved. A land were people were carefree without worrying about the pain of the outside world.

-And even so, this land feared beyond the borders. Afraid of feeling the pain, suffering and hurt. So they bordered off the kingdom and casted all the evil spirits away. Anyone who ever even crossed the border became sucked into the other side for eternity, and became without a soul or a heart in the land of the lost. And after crossing that border, that whom have crossed it shall never be heard from, or even remembered again..

-Time and time demons tried to get past the border into the kingdom. But they mostly died off due to the conditions of the land. They fed off hatred, pain and the loss of love. This land lacked that and often retreated back to their cesspool of a home.

-This all changed one day, however. With a demon and a prince.

-The demon's scarlet eyes danced watching the bustling of the kingsdomsfolk. On and on they walked by near the border and acted as if it were a bubble. They never drew near it and no one ever slipped into it often. Even if they did, the demons would laugh at any human's misfortune when they fell through. Watching the human's degrading corpse as entertainment and the memories flow out of them like dreams being flowed out the mind.. The body soon vanishing and turning into a different entity all together; a being within each human that would come out when one human envied, prided, or even thought of hateful things. Everyone had one. Not a human was perfect to lack one.

-Like little ants they passed by, sun glimmering on their faces that day. The demon wished it could rain, but it was midsummer so the lands were full of drought. He sighed to himself very bored from watching humans.

-It was lonely. Nothing to do, nothing to feel, but the empty hole in his heart. It was a shame he didn't feel emotions. It was a shame he had lost all his memories prior to his new life. He felt useless, nothing was interesting of his demon life. Boredom was his hell.

-With a sigh, he walked in front of the kingdom. Rather large sets of pillars welcomed out to the border. No one was there to guard it; it wasn't needed for the kingdom never had intruders. He walked up to it with much curiousity and reached over the bubble of a border with his right hand. His arm was burning easily from the sun.. So bored. All the other demons off to set havok or turmoil in their own ways.

-The demon sat down at the front of the kingdom. He waited for a rather long time. Through the darkness his eyes dancing and eyeing whatever passed by, animals, trash, and other things. Nightfall came, and all of the land was asleep, though, through it all, something emerged to the front of the kingdom.

-The thing was about past five feet tall, with a formal look to it. It sat close to the border and tried to look beyond it. Whatever it was, it made the demon's heart flutter. Such a thing he had never seen before; a human that looked so pure, with an angelic face. It looked like a doll adorning it's headpiece for itself.

-The demon sat close in front of the pure human and talked.
"You're very beautiful.." He said to the human past the border.
The demon didn't care whether the human heard him or not; most of the humans never heard him anyway. He'd talk to any human stationary to the border when he could.

-The gentle human perked their ears up and looked around suspiciously.
"W-who said that?" The human called.
"I did..." The demon replied.
"W-well, do you even know who I am?" the human said searching for the voice, "I'm far more powerful than you would ever be, and I wouldn't have you address me so lightly!"
A laugh erupted from the wasteland.
"You look like any other human to me."
"You can say that, but I'm not like those other humans, I much power on my hands and I get mostly what I want."
"Hehe. How cute.." The demon mused, "You think very high of yourself as an ordinary human, don't you?"
"Psh.." The human said frustrated, "Whatever. I don't need to hear this from an imaginary voice.. You're not real."
"I am very real." The demon said frustrated.
"Heh, prove it."

A little embarrassed, the demon reached through the border not minding if he felt pain or not. He tugged at the human but fell through into the kingdom. It was strange, being able to go through without any harm done to himself. It was a miracle, but how was this possible?

The darling human blushed with the demon sitting on him.
"Ugh! Get off me!" He snapped and got up, "Hmph. Pervert." The human frowned looking down upon the creature. For that exact second, the demon got very angry.

"Pervert? So I'm a pervert..?!"
"Yeah. You should know better than to get on top-"
"WHAT?!"
"..." The human smirked. "Heh, nevermind. But peasants like you should know better than to startle a prince and /pretend/ to be a voice from nowhere."
The demon felt hot and embarrassed. A peasant? He was a demon, and if any human didn't get that right, he wanted to tear their skins from their bodies.

Though, instead of doing so, he just sat there with no emotion drawn on his face.
"If I were you, I'd stay about ten feet away if it's good for you. I could easily call anyone to kill you right now." The prince smiled coyly and walked off.

The demon could only sit there, speechless. So many things he wanted to do, but his body didn't move. So many things he wanted to say but his mouth stayed still. What had happened to him?
