Learning a new language (in my case Japanese) has it's ups and downs. The funny stuff you learn to say for example~
"What is that?"
"That is a dog."
"Is the dog well?"
"Yes, the dog is well, thank you."
How many times in your life are you going to ask someone if their dog is well? Maybe a few depending on the people you are surrounded by. And the main point gets across language-wise too. Is _____ well?
Japanese lesson of the day:
O genki desu ka?
Are you well?
