Please note this is an extreme exaggeration of what actually happened, but also note my shoe did fly off.
A tumbling fall; sliding downhill, precariously tripping—these things are what have come upon me simultaneously by attempting a simple step downstairs. I couldn't tell you what happened even if I wanted to, it all happened in the same second. Face first, falling forward; backpack adding to the bust. I see the stairs, and then the ceiling; more stairs and then the ground. Ow, my lip; its bleeding, I do believe. Was that my nose I just heard crack? The ear shattering noise echoes through my eardrums as the pain settles itself in. My knee, I think I popped it; my chest, I think the collar bone's brought in. My shoe flies off in a fit of fear, as I look around to find it. Slowly I rise, trying to keep from passing out as my head throbs in the pain of a minor concussion. A soul frozen in place, witness to the main event; he asks if I'm okay. Blood streams down my face; it originates from my nasal cavities. I nod my head in the slightest movement; I stand unsure if he caught the gesture. Trying to walk was the hardest thing to do; I can feel the black and blue—and purple and green and yellow—bruise form on my thigh, another on my wrist. It starts swelling; it's been broken in at least three places. I hear another ear splitting burst as my knee returns to its natural setting. I keep myself from shouting, from screeching, from screaming—it hurts so undoubtedly it's almost unbelievable. I restrain myself from crying, from sobbing, from bursting into tears—too many witnesses. I walk it off, but something informs me I need medical attention this exact instant. I speak to the professor about my fall, and she sends me off to the nurse. An acquaintance accompanies me though the journey; allows my leaning on her shoulder, assuming I got in a battle of some sort. So we arrive near the attendance office; the doc gives me a once-over. Taking in my bruises, scathed arms, bent chest, and facial expression, he sets me gently in a chair and bombards me with ice.
