I know a few people my age who want children already. They may not actively pursue this but it is none the less obvious. It's a little disturbing at times.... hormones are frightening things. As is the urge to reproduce.... most definitely.
I don't really see the charm in babies, myself. To me they really aren't terribly cute (depends on the baby ~ asian babies are pretty cute sometimes (good thing I'm asian)).... but you know.... they're screaming, crying, pooing, urinating, balls of responsibility. And once you get past baby phase there's childhood... and the sucky teen years... and then if you've done a good job you'll have a swell adult to take care of you when you're old. If you've failed at parenthood then you're pretty much toast and you'll either live in the shame of your failure or have to clean up after your adult child. Of course, some people will turn out good or bad no matter what ~ go built in nature. (Yeah, I'm cynical. How did you guess?)
I know I'll most likely develop the human reproductive urge someday. I'm not really looking forward to it, honestly. I have an education to complete and a life to live. Before I even think about starting a family I want a college education, steady job and income, a place to live, savings (hard to get in this economy but it's possible), good friends (already has these), and preferably a good husband (no drinking, smoking, abuse, is responsible, sweet, loving... etc). I'd also like to have had a few years of childless freedom once I've gotten a job and an education. I have a life to live and I'm gonna live it.
