The cold breeze of the night, brushed Estella’s smooth face, as she lay asleep in her bed. Outside, the sky was dark and soft rustling noise of leaves can be heard. And there stood a man outside her window. A man with deep green eyes staring at her. A man who always secretly followed her, watched, love, adores and desired her so badly. And only waits for her in darkness--- Tony.
Tony Harris was a handsome young man. A tall blonde man with well-shaped browse has a perfect nose and has gorgeous lips. A factor that will surely turn every woman’s head.
Unfortunately, he is not a showy type of a man who will try everything just to charm women. Well, perhaps he is. For he had been secretly in love with a certain woman named Estella. An elegant beauty, whom he adored since childhood. Moreover, he remembered how that pretty little angel whom he used to stroke her silky brown hair, grew into the loveliest woman in town he has ever met. And he loved her. A love that turned almost into obsession. A very bad thing indeed. For, he had known all these years that she only wanted him as a friend--- Nothing more.
Thus our story starts. Estella strikes her head as she work with the last few details of Miss. Lee’s wedding gown, the next day. Hoping the lady would like her job.
Ever since she was a child, Estella used to love fashion and everything that goes with it. That she pursues her passion, and now runs a successful business and owns a well-known boutique, which her dear friend suggested naming as "La Classica Boutique."
He is her greatest friend ever. For he is always there whenever she felt neither bad, always there to share his shoulders for her to cry and lean on and wipe away her tears whenever she is hurt.
When the clock strikes at 8 o’clock in the evening, Estella left her shop. Her house was just a few blocks away that she prefers herself walking to home, almost every night. Nevertheless, if it is raining too hard she still has to stay inside her shop a little longer, until the rain cleared out.
The cold wind outside chilled her spine as she made her way into the darkness. Above her, the stars glittered like diamonds in the sky and city lights shone extravagantly at the other side of the street. Sea waves splashed its way to the impediment of stonewalls, and their splashing sounds reached her ears.
Then the conversation that still bothers her, suddenly occurred as she pace the cold pavement floor. It was the conversation, which happened at the café next to her shop perhaps two weeks ago. She and Tony were enjoying some cinnamon roll and a cup of coffee at Café Montessori that day and were chatting and jesting to each other.
"You are really an accomplished scoundrel," she told him, as she fought herself not to laugh with his jesting lies.
Tony stared at her for a moment or two before talking again.
"Am I dearest?" he said after sometime. "Well, why? Am I not telling you the truth? That you are indeed bloody dangerous for me, for always making my heart beat go fast and makes some unnecessary disturbance in my mind every time I think of you?" he paused. "And a love that I almost dread in confessing?" he finished.
It was then that she found herself dumbfounded. What is he talking? What does he mean? Is he only joking? These questions sprang in her mind. When she found her voice at last, she began,
"Tony, I-I-I don’t understand. What do you mean?" But Tony only look fixedly into her clear dainty eyes, and stretched his hands to clasp hers.
"My beautiful lady", he said softly "Have you got any notions that it was always you who hunts my dream, my heart and my soul?"
Estella was dumbfounded once again by his revelation. And this time she is feeling nervous. She wanted to slight him, but simply could not. For there is something in his sea green eyes, which she can’t quiet explain. Something that can make her heart leap from its place and made her body shiver.
"Tony," she whispered, after some moments passed.
"I still can’t understand you, nor do I care to understand you either. And if this was just some kind of a gag, please stop it now. ‘Coz it’s not getting funny and it only makes me feel-,"
"Feel what?" Tony interrupted.
"Makes me feel frightened." She answered.
However, Tony only grasped her hands yet even more tightly, that she felt her hands trembling despite his clutch.
"Please don’t be scared darling, for I have no intentions frightening you. And this is certainly not some kind of joke because what I’m telling you is real and I want to tell you that again. Estella I l-",
"Stop," she said.
"Stop just right there Tony. For, I do not wish to hear it again."
"But Estella, you ought to know. Because I can’t keep this anymore. . . I love you. He said.
And since that day she never dared talk to him nor even dared seeing him again. However, it pains her. For he is her best friend and somewhat like a brother. And she can hardly imagine that she is being more than a friend to him.
Then, just as she continued pacing the cold damp sidewalk, strong gush of winds came and all the street and city lamps went out. And she is once again back to her senses. "What’s happening?" she spoke, as she tried to calm herself. Then, as she stands in the pavement of Cornwall street, she heard some horse’s gallops. "Gallops . . . here?" she was surprised.
The gallop seems to be going in her direction too, that she trembled with fear. Cold sweat began to run down her spine and her heart beats so fast, she can hardly breathe. "What’s going on?" is the question in her mind.
The figure drew near and she caught a glare of smoke emerging from it. Then came the horse. A black horse with a mysterious looking figure riding its back.
