Short personality: A bit psychotic, manipulative, controlling, emotionally volatile.
Distinguishing features: His hair. His freckles. Can be drawn with thin black bug antennae and/or some sort of tiny crown/circlet/etc. His insects.

DETAILED PERSONALITY
Becoming Queen of a strange, inter-dimensional colony of insects has left his mind in... questionable condition.
For one, his emotions have all been amplified, so when he’s happy, he’s like a little kid who just got handed candy and a puppy, and when he’s angry, he’ll probably choke you if you do so much as -look- at him.
This is made worse because, secondly, his emotional state has been thrown into flux, and he is dangerously prone to sudden, volatile mood swings-- sometimes for no reason at all.
He's talented at persuading others to do what he wants. In fact, he’s become very manipulative and controlling in general. However, he's unable to stand it when a situation gets out of his hands, and loathes feeling powerless.
He also now has random urges to be -motherly- and, because his mind is not working exactly the way it should, these tend to manifest in uncomfortable ways, including a lot of personal space violations.
LAVI'S PAST
Lavi used to be a normal kind of guy until he took a walk through the woods and found a little cave at the base of a hill. The opening had been partially blocked off by some rocks that must have fallen down from further up the hill, but it didn't take much to move them. Having spare time and being a bit curious, Lavi decided to check the cave out, if only for a few minutes.
This turned out to be a really bad idea because he happened upon a small colony of very strange insects. He didn’t realize it right at that moment, but the bugs were not of this planet, or maybe even this dimension— they were from some other world, on a mission to scout Earth and decide whether or not setting up a colony there would be worth it.
Obviously things did not go so well considering they accidentally got trapped in a damn cave. Unable to escape, their mission was a failure and their deaths were inevitable— but when Lavi stumbled upon them, they devised a last-ditch plan to keep their mission going: convert this intruder into a new queen.
Cross-species queens are actually a norm for them— it’s almost like a weird form of parasitism— but there are several ‘preferred’ species they use and human beings are not one of them. Regardless, they tried— they incapacitated him (their stings are incredibly painful and cause temporary paralysis) and kept him there until the next morning. The leaders (there are three of them in any given scout group and they are as big as tiny dogs, in comparison to the others that are more or less the size of small beetles) force-fed him royal jelly (which is a pink, jelly-like substance they create from glands on their heads much like ants) several times during that period— and it ended up taking.
The cave becomes his hive, and once a month he ‘gives birth’ to new larvae, which is done in the rather unflattering fashion of vomiting them up.

OTHER s**t
The insects themselves (contrary to a lot of current art) are NOT bees. They have snouts like horses, but shorter, and filled with teeth that are too big for their mouths (thus, they jut out everywhere), along with a set of sharp mandibles. Two large compound eyes, two sets of overlapping translucent wings, six legs, a large stinger, and horn-esque protrusions at the tops of their heads that seem to function like antennae. The drones make up a majority of the group, are as small as bees, and are also capable of temporarily controlling any living organism and placing it under the will of the Queen (Lavi). There are a few who act as warriors or guards to Lavi, however, and they are as big as house cats.
Lavi has to eat more royal jelly each time he vomits up new larvae, or else he'll return to normal.
