The Conclusion
After completing our survey and looking at the results, we can conclude that a majority of the students surveyed were found to have suffered from a lack of sleep due to the amount of homework they’d been given to complete. While most students agreed, homework was important, many others simply did the homework so that they could get a passing grade, and that the only reason why it was important was because of the amount of points invested into a single paper. Due to these results, we may infer that the reason most students do their homework and turn it in is because they want the points gained from the paper, and more often than not they don’t care about doing it right.
Many students that we asked believed that, while studying is important, they’d much rather do it independently rather than have homework due the next day because, instead of stressing out and forgetting to turn in their papers, they could instead simply use any of the studying strategies they find to be the most effective. However, homework is important for certain classes such as math and science since most studying strategies aren’t effective for those types of subjects.
In conclusion, we think that homework isn’t as effective as teachers would be lead to believe, and that it should only be used on certain subjects instead of every subject.
