Oiii.. what a long vacation, and I'm here wishing it didn't have to end. gonk
Let's get this boat rolling.
Thursday
Day before the con actually started, Carandra, another friend, and I were running around like mad making sure and hoping we had everything ready. Paperwork for the plane, money, itinerary, what a mess! But luckily, after my dentists' appointment, we were on our way, heading to the airport via the lightrail system, which took about an hour and a half, something I had actually figured in!
Whoo, Aqua FTW!
Anyway, working around that, we got to the airport in plenty of time, ran through the security gates so to speak, and then puttered around the main lobby area of PDX for an hour and a half, playing on my laptop (whooooo, WIFI!)
On the plane, nothing too special. Alaska Airlines has these tasty little Gardetto's-like snacks for the in-flight stuff now, which were yummy. biggrin
Got to San Jose *dear eff, it's HOT down there!*, and called Jak-jak to get a ride to the con center, so that we could meet up with Kava once the badges were picked up. Once they were however, puttered around some more while waiting for Kender to be able to pick up her con staff badge. XP
After that though, we went to dinner in what I think was the local "Chinatown" of the area. Yummy... (makes note to repay Jak-jak back the $5 he used to cover he porridge).
Left from there with Kava to go to sleep and prepare, though by no means did me nor Kava sleep for quite awhile. Too much energy and a need to figure out what we were going to wear for each day of the con.
Friday
EEEEEEE, Fanime begins!! I've discovered that really, opening ceremonies are useless and no one really goes to them, so I went to the Dealer's Room instead or played on the Internet at the internet cafe area of the con, off on the Hilton side of the convention center.
Met up with Blades of Blood and whitebunnierabbit, found out that Alexi_Jameson had wandered their way to the con the day before *o.O;*, and ran around with them for a bit before running off again.
That makes a total of 6 in a room, for those at home keeping track. Me, Mervyn, Alexi, Carandra, Blades, and bunnie. Kinda cramped, but I didn't get the floor privilege. gonk
Much to do, no time to do them all in!
Mervyn was in awe at the dealer's room, and the Gaians kept trying to recruit me to work the booth on Friday. Nuuuuu, I like running around, and stop trying to chuck a CoCo plushie at my heaaadd!!
Heh... karaoke prelims later that night, gave one of the worst performances I've ever done because I couldn't hear the damn music. Lawl, oh well. I have more fun singing impromptu anyway~~.
Afterwards, went and grabbed my laptop for some late night modding (I know, I know, XO), but then afterwards, tailed with a couple of friends to the PG-13+ stuff for a couple of hours. Wandered up to the room somewhere around 2-3am and crashed. XD
Saturday
Hoooboy, the day I just knew I would go all-out at the booth, because of the panel later that day at 1pm. Donned my main Aquafire outfit and ran downstairs, getting caught for most of the day manning the wheel and keeping track of who won what at the wheel.
Seraphim Call stopped by to spin the wheel, and it was so cute when she realized who I was! ^^ Then I started cracking jokes about her having Rosamaine as a mentor... rofl
To answer any questions now, no, I had no Internet in the dealer's room, so no, I was not giving out items XP (not like I have that ability anyway~).
Panel time though! I'm sure by now everyone's seen the recaps from Fanime in the GCD, so I won't bother with my own commentary on it. Sat between Arcane Draconum and Ling in the front row of the panel room for the two hours. Would've gone online if my stupid battery on the 'top lasted more than 5 minutes. XO
Oh well~~~. /pet Phoe the whole time, which really annoys him. XD I blame WhiteJoker for that habit, but that's beside the point.
After the Dealer's Room closed for the night, I went to dinner with the other admins, devs, and mods, this nice little Sonoma Chicken Grill place-thing. I had some Greco Spaghettini with a side salad, and during dessert of chocolate fondue and chocolate mousse, Dri of course had to make a comment about duck s**t just as I was eating ice cream, obviously making me choke for a bit. XO
DRI TRIED TO KILL ME!! gonk

Anyway, got stuffed silly, then went back to the con center to veg out on the comp for awhile, Futo Maki joining me at the internet cafe for some more modding.
I know I know, vacation... XO
Afterwards, she and I ran off to the PG-13+ rooms, where more hilarity ensued. XD You should really hear some of the commentary during those showings.
Though, this is where things get interesting for me..
Coming out of the PG-13+ rooms, I meet up with -=chaos-raver=- and a few others and.. goddamn, I don't know what it is about a guy in a dress, but he was DAMN SEXY. eek Had the urge to kiss him right then and there though, which is odd. I'm not normally an impulsive person.
As for what happens after that... nothing much. Just a lot of talking and turning the 14th floor elevator area into a social hangout, where a few of the other con goers gathered for just a fun little yap-place for 3 hours. Crashed in bed somewhere around 5am though, I think.
Now was it today or Sunday that I totally schooled Alexi in DDR? Not sure. rofl
Sunday
More run-around, splitting between dealer's room and e-gaming. Alexi was still MIA playing WoW, but now it was in the hotel room rather than the Internet cafe portion of the con center, so~~...
Things from here on out kind of blur together, but it was nice to have someone to run around with and hope to see. This was the day of the Gaia social just outside of the fountain as well, so that was fun to watch, and to see Saka's art of Sasha, Moira, and Rina go for a nice bit was cool, though admittedly, I was paying attention to... other things. ninja
Asked Kava to take a piccy of me and Chaos, which is currently resting happily on my desktop as my wallpaper. heart I gave him my favorite necklace, a little vial-thing with a piece of rice in it that had my name written on.
Wow I was being rather impulsive...
Took a nap in the late afternoon because... wow, I really needed it. XO Planned to go see a horror movie with everyone, but the movie was borked for some reason, and so it was replaced by a murder mystery, which was boring as all hell so I left and of course found Chaos again, dressed in drag again. Oh holy hell... heart Sooo hawt!
Spent some nice time with him, then we decided to go to bed, him at his room on the 8th floor and me to mine on 14th *quit getting funny ideas, dammit. XP Nothing happened*. However, Kaku Devon, one of Chaos' roommates for the con, stopped us at the door to his room and asked me whether he could stay in mine for the night because something... well, something bad had happened to one of his other roommates. I figured he could get the closet, so we headed up to my room, and after taking a look through some of the pictures Mervyn had uploaded into my computer, I went to bed, 3am-ishy.
Monday
Winding down now, and really feeling it. Exhausted, but I managed to pack everything up fine enough in my backpack and suitcase, though Mervyn and Carandra had a tough time because of all the swag they had bought.
Today was a fun day though, as Alexi finally got off the comp to have some fun. Oooh, now if only they would agree to cross-play! It's taken me two years before I actually met them IRL, but now they understand how truly evil I can be. rofl Too much fun!!
Wow... Chaos was a hottie in that dark red shirt... heart
Right around the time the dealer's room closed, we headed off to the airport to come home~... but I'm going to miss everyone horribly. I didn't even get to say goodbye to everyone properly because we had to leave so quickly, but... it's not like everyone's completely out of contact, right?
There's always Gaia.
Plus, there's always next year. ^_^
