I woke in a soft bed, and soft, buttery light coming through the window. A young woman was bustling, making beds. She had light pink hair that came down to her shoulders and cat ears poked out of it. A long, thin tail waved from a small hole in her white dress. She turned to me and smiled.
“Hello there! My name is Lily. I work here in the infirmary of Camp Flora.”
She offered me her hand. It was quite cold. Up close, I could see her whiskers and pointed canines. So, she was a neko. I tried to stand, and collapsed on the bed. Her yellow eyes glittered with internal laughter. She lifted my legs onto the bed and pulled the cover over me again.
The door banged open, and Jessamine walked in. Even though it was quite warm in the room she wore a heavy silk gown, with millions of petticoats and full length sleeves. Dresses like that weighed a ton. All her hair was all piled on her head, and her neck must have been under strain. Under the dress I could see her leather boots. Gloves covered her fingers and a necklace her neck. It was a simple piece of jewellery, a ribbon tied at her throat, and a diamond hanging from it. The outfit easily covered her entire body.
“Lily, there is a camp wide court meeting about the... New arrivals. I need you there, and this one. Please make her look as respectable as possible, I don’t want to deal with her.”
