The local mall got revamped today. They added an AMC 16 (sweet!), a Borders (awesome!), and a couple new shops and restaurants. Since it was the opening day today, it was extremely crowded, but what surprised me the most was the number of teens and pre-teens there. Maybe I was just too geeky when I was young, but I never really went out on a weekday without my folks. Planned trips to the mall with friends and no adults was something that happened maybe before a dance or during summer, but it most certainly did not occur when I was not even in high school. My boyfriend and I had gone to check out the movie Shaun of the Dead, and when we left the theatre, it was late afternoon so a lot of students were there. We passed by three girls all wearing short skirts, and he whispered the word plastics in my ear. Anyone who has seen the movie Mean Girls would know what this meant, but even if you haven't, you can use your imagination to guess what the word implies.
It's a bit frightening how I'm probably only five or seven years older than those kids, but I already feel the age gap. What am I going to think when I hit 30? Oh well, at least I'll be able to buy drinks and gamble.
Got the season three South Park DVDs today. Horray! whee
