So here it is...
Campfire RPs
A Campfire RP is an idea I had. Ever had one of those campfire stories, when everyone would sit around a fire and begin with a small bit of story? See, when they finish their part, it is passed to the next person in the circle who picks up from where they left off. The same characters are used, and the plot thickens...but with different authors.

A Campfire RP is like that, except in more of a role-play form. These are single-thread (in Gaian terms) role-plays that consists of posts that can be any length. If I were to make one, I'd start off with a small bit and end to leave someone else to pick up on where I left off, using the characters of my creation and adding/deducting as they see fit. It would keep going as if it were a novel, using the same, as mentioned, characters, but also tense, point-of-view, and even font size and color as the post ahead of it. Of course, not everyone would agree with what happens, but it's a great way to learn to deal with what comes.

To any RPers reading this entry, what do you think? Good idea? Bad idea? Something you'd join?

...

Now, these campfire RPs would have a title and a few rules, but not much else. The plot would come into play as it went on. At the start, you would lay out the bare minimum, like, "Keep this realistic/This is a fantasy, but all the magical stuff you want." That's really it, though.

I think I'm going to start one and see how gaia reacts. Who knows, maybe campfire RPs will be a hit! I think they'd be great because they get rid of godmodding, auto-hitting, and all other hassles of modern day role-plays.

The process wouldn't be perfect, however. People will make things happen that others won't agree with. Time will be wasted on information hardly vital to the plot. People will disregard what happens in the post above theirs. However, if campfire RPs do become popular (and I won't lie, I hope they do), then they will evolve so that something will be done about such situations so that they are dealt with justly as well as accordingly. Perhaps the thread owner would just continue to act as the moderator and keep things on track. That would be the most logical respnse.

Of course, there would be basic formatting, still. Personally, I would have, if someone joined, give me a link to a RP post they had made previously so that they could prove it was their post but also to see if they have the literacy required for such an RP. I would also request that posts be put through a spell checker. Once you are allowed in, I would put your username into an 'accepted role-players' post. Only if your name was found there, would you be allowed to post. After that, some of these RPs could even have a prolouge to start them off.

So, once again, role-players, what say you to my idea? If you like it, spread the word, create one yourself, let it grow!

That's not a bad idea, Mayday. I can see a few flaws you'd have to overcome, but I like the concept.

You'd have to manage to keep it from becoming too much of a story, however, than a roleplay, that's probably one of the stronger, but most changable (if it gets too far) flaws.

I still think the idea's great. I say go for it, I'd check one out if I saw one...

That's exactly what it is, though. A story...except in role-play style with more than one author...a lot more than one author.

I think LoSI should sponsor one, even if it has nothing to do with our plot. someting done in the name of teaching.

That might not be a bad idea. However, I think the Barton one should stay "normal."
