Well, I don't run this one, Got Scots and AttemptedPerfection have to take the credit for that one, but here's a vague overview:
Society has been overrun by a mysterious disease called the Sickness. One man, Daniel Orsted, has managed to construct a time machine to get back to the year 1799 where the disease may have hit and been cured. Now, this time machine may be the only hope of saving the world.
My character was designed from two religious figures. I figured I’d give the background on that in here.
First, the profile:
Gaian Name: mayday22
Character Name: Francis Clement
Age: 62
Occupation: Priest
Hair Color: Grey-white
Hair Type: His hair directly reflects his age. It needs more care. The unkempt look stands out because of its length. It seems like the hair is ready to fall out, but remains thick and somehow strong at its base.
Eye Color: A light, deep blue
Skin Color: White… Caucasian
Height: 5’11
Weight: 148
Favorite Color: Deep red. “It is the color of blood,” he’ll say. “And blood holds true for each man, be he a sinner or Christ himself.”
Favorite Food: Plain white bread. He’ll claim it keeps him more in touch with Christ… and more full for longer periods of time.
Personality: While Father Clement was never overexcited, in his younger days, he was known for his humor and the energy he exhibited during his sermons. With the Sickness, his personality evolved. Grief aged him, as it aged many. His eyes seem teary all the time, and now his gentle personality and common acts of kindness are followed by a sad, reminiscent smile.
Bio: On July 7, 1946, Francis Clement was born to Michael Clement and Maria Agostino. His parents, both deeply religious Catholics, imposed the importance of Church onto him from birth. After reaching adulthood, such ideals remained. As soon as he was through with education, he became a pastor. He often suggested that the church focused on donations towards the homeless shelters, struggling families, and particularly anointment of the sick. “Help for hope,” he would say.
“Father Frank,” the kids called him. The nickname brought a smile to his face. It seemed that his smile began to spread. The church gained popularity, and as a whole, communities that Father Frank visited seemed to be more unified and motivated to lend a helping hand as a whole. It was truly incredible.
But then the Sickness came. Faced with impossible questions like, “Why is God doing this?” Father Frank could only say, “I do not know His plan.” It did not seem to cut it for the fear-stricken society. The church decreased in its members. Few remained faithful. Instead of turning towards religion, it seemed people blamed it. The Father struggled to keep it afloat, and now resorts to traveling door-to-door offering at the very least, kind words.
…
I’m not going to lie; I didn’t like the whole ‘favorites’ thing, but I don’t have any real complaints otherwise. Anyways, here’s the further information on how Father Frank was created:
Father Francis Clement is a character derived from a cross between these two religious figures, Saint Frances Cabrini and Pope Clement VI.
To begin, the surname is obviously taken from the pope. Francis is derived in masculine terms from Francesca. Michael, Francis’ father, is a name shared with the archbishop, Michael Corrigan, whom gave Mother Cabrini permission to open an orphanage in New York. In turn, his mother’s name, Maria, is shared with Cabrini’s given first name at birth. The mother’s maiden name, Agostino, is also Father Francis’ mother’s maiden name.
Pope Clement was not brought into this because of the last name, though. Rather, he was the pope during the Black Death. This time period is strikingly similar to the Sickness of this RP.
It was from these two figures and said events that Father Francis Clement was created.
