Beyond the Veil: Constellation Canis Major
Lun's Journal of Stuffs.
Shakespeare is the sole cause of Sirius Black's death.
This is only a crack theory. So unless you agree with my points, please don't take this seriously.

I am here to talk about how the death of Mercutio is similar to that of Sirius's, and how they tie into each other. And Shakespeare is the ultimate cause of Sirius's death.

If you haven't read my last entry about fictitious characters with similar traits to Sirius, here it is. It will help you with understanding my reasoning. [LINK]

Moving on, I find that there are a lot of similarities between how both Sirius and Mercutio died.

Sirius- Harry goes to Ministry, Sirius goes to save Harry, killed by Veil/Bella.
Mercutio- Fights Tybalt for the sake of Romeo, Romeo tries to stop them, Tybalt stabs Mercutio.

Even though the methods of death are different for the two characters, the pattern is very similar. Their deaths are in part caused by the mistakes of the main character, respectively Harry and Romeo, and died at the hands of another character, respectively Veil/Bella and Tybalt. Furthermore, their death is also, in part, caused by themselves. For Sirius, it was disliking Kreacher enough to get him to leak information to the Malfoys, and also for acting rashly and insisting on going to the Ministry even after being asked to stay at Grimmauld Place. In Mercutio’s case, it was him challenging Tybalt to a duel when Romeo refuses to fight. Additionally, Their best friend, respectively Remus and Benvolio, is left alone after their death (Romeo went ultra-emo and is, well, banished), and due to the similarity in character, this should not be a coincidence.

In English, we have discussed that Shakespeare might have killed Mercutio off because he was gaining popularity and outshone Romeo. It very well could be the same case with JKR, even though that is not the sole reason she doing so (the Hero Must Be Alone stuff, or something along the lines of that.). Sirius, as we know, is one of the most popular characters in Harry Potter, another connection to Mercutio.

I highly doubt that all these parallels between the two are simple coincidences. As we know, or should know, J.K. Rowling enjoyed the works of Shakespeare very much and must have gotten some ideas from his works. So coincidence? Very unlikely.
