I love you.
I love you so deeply my heart pains me. It swells with love, mushrooming with pride at how beautiful you are. The way the light dances in your eyes, the way the wind catches your hair.
You are so close, yet so far. Miles and miles stand between us. We are from two different worlds.
I want to crush you with my limbs, hold you tight and never let you go. Kiss you roughly just to hear you gasp, then kiss you soft to hear you sigh.
To hold your hands and warm them from the cold, press your fingers to my lips and whisper words of adoration.
You smile, and hug me. Greeting me as a friend, and I secretly imagine you embracing me as a lover would.
I see you with your boyfriend, and try not to think about how he's not good enough for you. How he doesn't know your innermost secrets; how he doesn't know what kind of perfume you wear on Sundays.
Or how he doesn't even pretend to care why you frown.
When I look in your eyes, I can see how you see me. Just a girl. Your best friend, someone to talk to and confide in. But nothing more.
I'm afraid. Afraid to confess my love to you. Afraid that you would look at me in disgust, and turn away from me.
I live forever in fear, that you will not feel the same.
So I stay silent, and be content just to be near.
