The nights had passed, and the Vanguard had long taken off to its destination, being unknown to both Sephfireka and Arnath. Arnath had just finished eating breakfast in the late morning at a table in the inn when Sephfireka sat down to join him. "I think I'll stay in Remus," Arnath said.
Sephfireka's eyes expressed his disapproval. "We should ask around and find out where The Vanguard went."
Arnath leaned back in his chair a bit. "You can do that if you want, but I think I would rather stay here in Remus." Sephfireka raised a hand to attract the bar maid's attention, not seeming to pay concern to Arnath's words. "It's a peaceful city...besides I was told about this castle Doomspire, which really struck my interest."
Sephfireka paid the bar maid for a drink she had brought over, as she then continued about her business. "Doomspire, eh? Well I don't feel like stopping you. Do whatever you want, I'll find The Vanguard." He sipped a large quantity his drink.
"You're going to leave me here without concern?" Arnath asked.
"Of course," Sephfireka responded. "You're not a baby, you can handle yourself. You do have children."
Arnath, reminded of this near recent event, widened his eyes and leaned his chair back to its normal position. "You're right, I almost completely forgot...I should go visit them."
Sephfireka nodded as he sipped his drink again, finishing it. "Well then," he said, "I shall be off. I'm sure we'll meet again, the Vanguard travels all over the world." He stood up and pushed his chair in, the trenchcoat which he always wore spinning as he turned and walked out. A man on his way in bumped into him and politely requested his pardon, though Sephfireka paid him no attention.
The taverness stepped quietly over to Arnath, asking him if hed like anything else. He couldn't help but look her over. She was dressed in quilted armor, wearing two bangles on each arm. She wore standard shoes, which offered nothing more than basic protection to the soles of her feet, and a standard belt. A scroll was pressed between the belt and her torso. "No thank you," Arnath said. As he laid his now empty tankard on the table, a familiar voice sounded into the bar.
"Greetings my old friend," the man said approaching Arnath and bowing.
"Algias du Lom, was it?" Arnath asked. He stood to return the bow.
"Indeed," he replied. "And how hast thou been lately?"
"Not bad. Not bad at all," Arnath replied. "And yourself?"
"At times it has been a bit tedious, but I have persevered," Algias said. "Quite tedious on the girl front."
Arnath smiled a bit. "Having trouble finding someone?"
Algias grinned. "Chasing a new one."
"Ah. Well, if she wishes to be chased, chase away. I would not bother if she is not interested."
"HmmI think she wishesWomen, eh my friend?" Arnath smiled and nodded a bit. Algias, after taking a moment in thought asked, "May I offer you an ale?"
Arnath laughed a bit, knowing the truthfulness of the statement he would make. "Always the one to offer the drinks...I'd appreciate an ale about now." Algias grinned and sat down. He bought them two ales and seated himself. After its delivery, Arnath held his ale loosely in his right hand and his sword, still in its sheath, firmly in the left. Looking at his left hand, he said "Force of habit." Algias nodded, as Arnath loosened his grip and adjusted his seating.
"Have you decided to travel with me to the East Kingdom?" Algias asked, sipping his drink.
"Ah the East Kingdom," Arnath said. "I believe I might."
"Good idea my friend," Algias nodded. "I have heard they do have a very well designed system of laws."
Arnath nodded, before changing the subject. "And would you care to tell me of your travels, good Sir?"
"Hmm...Not much really. I've been around Remus for quite some time, and only now having someone to go with suddenly find the interest to go to the castle Doomspire." He picked up his tankard and drank again.
Arnath, remembering about his own ale, picked it up and sipped from it a generous quantity. "...Ah, i'm sure it's a fine place. When shall we depart?"
Algias nodded again. "Transport there may not be easyit depends on how to decide to travel."
Algias nodded and shrugged. "Airship?" He sipped again.
"I myself haven't flown," Arnath said. "And I know not how costly the fare would be."
"HmmCould be anything between 200 gold and 700 gold." He sipped again, before shifting the weight of his broadsword.
Arnath nodded before drinking again from his own tankard. Changing the subject, he asked curiously "Care to tell me of the woman you're interested in?"
"We should be leaving soon," he said, making a face. "Her name is Rose. Not the lady Rose you spoke of, she is Rose Arwen something or other."
"So if we must depart..." Arnath said. They both laid their tankards on the table and stood to depart. Returning to the subject, Aranth said, "You should make well with Rose, and be happy."
