The new family was strange and drama-central. The parent was only an aunt named Marge who smoked. She was a sick woman that worked weird hours at a strange job. The eldest teen was a girl named Jennifer. She had light brunette hair down to her shoulders. She seemed stern and held an attitude. The middle teen was a boy who goes by Milo. He was a punk/goth boy who listened to hard metal and had a rebel’s attitude. The boy had black hair with blue streaks. The youngest was a little girl, Susan, with blond pigtails. At first glance the sweetest little girl but inside she was used to getting her way. Always cheerful and loves every living creature.
The girl seen the family and felt resistance to them for living in her home. But it wasn’t hers anymore, it was theirs. Her loving home, and family was gone. She had no choice. On a piece of paper she wrote “Take care of Wolfena” with a pencil in her mouth. The words were sloppy and the pencil barely got stuck in her throat. She scratched at the door with the notebook paper in her mouth.
“Looky! It’s a doggie! Can we keep her? Can we?” Susan’s high pitched voice pleaded. “Take care of Wolfena? This must be Wolfena then....What type of dog is she?” Jennifer said reading the piece of paper. ‘Please work...please.’ The girl, known to be human once pleaded. “Aunt Marge?” Jennifer asked their aunt. “I don’t care. Just feed her.” The aunt said. The little girl screamed in joy. “Why get a damn dog anyway?” asked Milo who was leaning on the hallway wall. “Susan needs a friend. The dog seems tamed.” Jennifer answered.
“She looks like a husky...” Milo said looking at her. “Can we bring her inside? Please? It’s so dark outside! Just once!” Susan pleaded, hugging Wolfena. “Fine, only just once!” Jennifer answered going back inside. “Come on Wolfena! Welcome to your new home!” Susan led the wolf into the house.
‘Wolfena....A new name for a wolf like me....’ Wolfena thought to herself. A sadness filled her soul and never left. ‘A husky? It works....I guess....I’m sorry.’
It seemed as a year had passed as Wolfena lived as a dog in her new home. Giving up on life she stopped caring what happens. Her life was a dog’s life. Nothing more. It was only two years later that she began to hope.
Wolfena was out on her midnight walk after Jennifer kicked her out again. Wolfena walked in the woods she loved that day. Now they just seemed spooky in the dark. She found the place she found the bracelet. Sitting down she looked up at the sky. ‘What happened? Why did this happen?’ She asked again, even though she knew no one would hear her. After waiting in silence for a few minutes she raised up on her four legs to walk away. A strange feeling smothered her. ‘Huh?’ She felt different. A strange urge to turn back. Closing her eyes she sat down again to figure out the feeling. Concentrating she felt a pressure on her body.
She felt her bones began to move and transform. She kept her eyes closed due to her fear. She no longer felt her tail, instead she felt fingers move. Paws were now back to her hands and feet. Her ears shrunk back into her head replaced by human ears. Her fur shrunk as well to be replaced by her long autumn hair. Her wolf form was gone. Her human self now remained. Opening her eyes she screamed. Tears of confusion ran down her face as she stared at her hands. “This....this is me!” She said through sobs. Standing up she wobbled and barely tripped. Her balance was off. Looking down she noticed her clothes were gone and a white cloth brassiere and loincloth took their place.
“Please! Someone help!” She called through the dark woods. No one seemed to hear her. “What’s happening? Someone please tell me! It has to be a dream...just had to be....” She looked frantically around, but seen nothing. She looked at the bracelet and tried taking it off. The hook that attached the bracelet was gone. Disappeared. She tried breaking it. Tearing it. It never budged off. It stayed on her wrist. “Come off! Dammit!” she screamed with rage.
“Wolfena!” she heard the little girl, Susan call. “Oh no, the little girl....what do I do..?” Wolfena looked around thinking. Nothing came to her mind. Before she realized it, her body began to transform on it’s own. Her human self was replaced by the wolf form, once again. Wolfena howled in agony as she knew she was now the wolf.
Whining she left the woods and found the little girl. Susan rushed forward and hugged Wolfena. “Alright you found her. Now lets go.” Said Jennifer behind Susan. “Wolfena don’t run off like that! You scared me!” lectured Susan as she waved her small index finger in front of Wolfena’s face. Wolfena looked away avoiding the girl’s look.’I don’t care....’ she muttered holding back the depression.
Making it home, they went straight to bed. Jennifer tucked in Susan in the bed which was once Wolfena’s. A small anger filled Wolfena as her beloved room was now gone, giving to the child. Walking toward the opposite wall of her bed just next to the door she curled up in a Dog bed that was recently bought for her. ‘Just a nightmare.....a nightmare I will never awake from.’ A tear filled the wolf’s eye as again every night she dreaded to awake to find herself in that form. ‘I was human again, for that few minutes. But how? Was I imagining it? Like imagined that woman in the blue dress vanishing? That evil guy.....Mom, dad please tell me what to do! I miss you so much! Why....why did this happen?’ Wolfena played the scenerios again and again in her mind, trying to find an answer if any. A few minutes passed and Wolfena was deep asleep.
